changing fixture addresses

Post by dicky96 »

Hi

I added some new fixtures of the same type (I already had 4x On-X and now I have 8 of them

I have a couple of questions.

I changed the DMX address of one of my fixtures (Neo-neon X-beam) so I could put all the On-X in ascending address order - only now none of the sequences I wrote for the X-beam work. How do I tell the sequences this fixture is now on a different DMX address?

Same issue with two of the original 4 On-X - I now put them in a group of four asceding DMX addresses. and the original sequences will not work.

I also wrote some long sequences for the original 4x On-X. They are 64 steps. How can I easily copy this data so it now controls all 8 On-X from the sequence without having to spend hours editing every step again to add the extra 4 fixtures?

Also how can I take a 64 step sequence that currently handles 4 On-X fixtures and create a mirror image of that sequence to control the other four fixtures at the same time without writing it from scratch? Kinda like make a Slave-2 version of my sequence for the other four fixtures if you get what I am trying to do.

Thanks
Rich

I "think" I understand what your saying, the chases are tied to the fixture and location number, you should be able to just patch the fixtures to the new addresses and the chases should remain valid. Not sure if this helps or not.

Yes that does help - I removed the fixtures then added them back in a different order and on new DMX addresses. But I saved my previous location setup first. :D

I will try leaving the fixture location numbers as they were but change DMX addresses to the new ones and then add my extra On-X lights.

Cheers
