Errr.. you call "running under Linux" an emulator?... And you'll stick a big sticker on your laptop and wear a big t-shirt saying "I rUle 'cauz I run FS UnDer L33nux"?... I think you'd better install a dual boot :-) There are enough bugs to fix like that.

yes, maybe you're right... but it is a minimum platform of windows... with less bugs?
It is strange that the ficture creator works and the program itself not...

Is there an answer for my problem?

the exact error message is : Run-time error '339'
Component 'hirestimer.ocx' or one of its
dependencies not correctly registered: a file is
missing or invalid.

I tried to copy the hirestimer file from my windows XP platform (with freestyler installed en running) and copied it to linux >> does not work
Tried to re-instal freestyler >> no effect.

I don't know if Wine is the same as windows but in windows , you have to do a little command to register the file

use :
regsvr32 <filename>

The fixture creator is just a UI to create fixture files, I mean it only does file input/output, not real time communication on a com port emulated via USB, so it's not surprising it works fine under wine. I don't find surprising either there are problems with USB/com stuff..

And XP is very stable now, things have changed since the 98/ME crap you know.... I've made dozens of partys with my notebook running VDJ on XP in hot/wet/dusty/lots of smoke environnments without a single crash. 2 parties with FS and VDJ running 8 hours on the same machine, constantly switching between them. 1 party last saturday with FS on a dedicated laptop, no problem.
Not a single crash. FS has a lot of bugs in the programming steps, but once you've made your programs, and only use cues and buttons during the show, it's stable and doesn't crash. And even if there's a problem in FS, the problem will be the same in Wine... and don't tell me Wine is more stable than native XP ;)

nope that will be another file that needs regsvr'ing u say it works was that the part i said above? an ActiveX ha snothing to do with DirectX well it could but it isnt ActiveX objects are extensions to programs that are universal i belive so you could add an activex component to your program to do or add extra things like fancier buttons or special features...

1. You do not have a required TLB or ActiveX DLL/OCX file.
2. A TLB or ActiveX DLL/OCX needed by the project is present but not registered on your system.
3. The VB runtimes are an earlier version than the one you need to run the project.
4. A required TLB or ActiveX DLL/OCX file is corrupt.

Big news!!!
I managed to get Freestyler working under linux...

I've installed a registery tool in system32 that registers the neccesary ActiveX components.
Once run regsvr32 regtool.dll Freestyler works just fine...

Thanks to all who helped me to resolve this problem!!!

havn't tested on a windows based mobile.
just on an apple using safari, and runs really well on any website that doesnt have flash.
Turning into a bit of a review here.
javascript works great even using my sloppy coding lol.
I tempted, only tempted mind you to build a web interface for freestyler so can controle the lights over wifi whilst at the bar.

I'd tried to install Freestyler on Ubuntu.
But i also get 'Error creating output Thread' 'ActiveX component can't create object' :x

It would be really cool to have freestyler run on linux :fs:

Hello People,

I'm also very interested in using FS in Linux (Ubuntu) + wine.

I guess the FS software is running if I read through this thread.
My only concern is the driver for my Enttec Open USB module.
If I can believe the Wine documentation, you can't install
drivers under Wine.

How does this work ? (If it does ?)

If I need the drivers for linux.
Which one to use ?

Regards,

Bruno
