Just downloaded and installed latest version and... nothing happens. Well, the splash screen comes up for a moment and then the system beeps and the splash screen goes away.
What am I doing wrong?

Is your XP fully up to date?
Well at least as much as it can be till the support from Microsoft stopped after the 10 year cut off. But stuff like service packs, drivers, directx, .net framework and all that jazz.
