strobe feature missing

hello,

I have chauvet q-spot 250 (roller)
FREESTYLER v3.5.5

Here is my problem.
So far i have manage to get the my chauvet q-spot (roller) working with freestyler 3.5.5 i have not program anything yet.

I have all my color, gobos, rotate, spin working. however I am missing the STOBE function. on DMX controller the strobe is working.

how do i get that added or included to function?

any suggestion?

Are you using a fixture profile that was already in the Freestyler fixture library?

If so which one?

How many DMX channels are needed to run the fixture? (check the user manual or better still post a link to the user manual).

Have you made your own fixture profile? If so please post the profile for us to check.

Actually, mine's for the 160, but it'll probably still work, or be close.

I used the preprogram fixture library.

mine is Chauvet Q-Roll 250 / 7 CHANNEL

i am using Q-Scan 250 from preloaded freestyler folder.

i dont know how use the editor from FC program.

You should sit down and try to learn it, it is VERY easy. First thing you do is copy the file from the freestyler folder and move it to say your desktop, and then open the desktop version in fixture creator for the light profile your trying to get working.

From there you will be able to see how it works and you can modify or change things around based on the manufacturers DMX specification. It is a bit daunting at first because your trying to learn freestyler itself and then having to mess with fixture profiles just adds another layer of WTF.

If your in a real rush, I'm sure someone can help you with your file and you can move along from there, but it is in your best interest if your serious about using this program, to learn how to bend and mold it for YOUR needs as they progress.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but after that, you'll be golden.

The learning curve is pretty steep in my opinion, but not because it doesn't need to be. Like Nathan said, once you get it, it's pretty easy. I can do one in 5 minutes now (assuming I have the manual,) but when I started with FS, it took hours. Don't feel bad...it's normal.

Oh I got mad making my first fixture. It was a moving head we have at work and I'd never done it before, but I needed it for a job that weekend. I ended up doing it best I could and checked it via 3D easy view, then just went with it on the job.

The boss didn't realise at first I was controlling it, because he knew I had to make a fixture file for it

But just look at new fixtures coming out on different websites for manufacturers, , but try simple things like RGB fixtures which are normally anything 3 to 5 channels. Then maybe move up after a couple of them, don't just jump in the deep end with lasers, moving heads, complex fixtures, etc. You'll get stressed.
