RGB LED par can programming question

Post by bckeeping »

Hi Guys,

First just to say thanks for being so vocal on this board, I think thats the only reason I have gotten to grips with FS!
So I hope you have some creative ideas this time.

Right, I have just purchased a couple of showtec LED par cans, with 6 channels of DMX :
1 - Red
2 - Green
3 - Blue
4 - Colour (overrides any RGB settings)
5 - Strobe (0-254 slow to constant to fast)
6 - Macro? (does all sorts of pre-set fade effects, colour scrolling or setting S2L)

I have managed to create a new fixture for it in the fixture creator, but my problem is this..
There appears to be no way to shutter the lamps on/off or dim them without using the RGB channels  .

I usually program my dimmers/shutter seperately to any colour chases or states so that they can be overlayed.
i.e. choose a colour preset for all fixtures, then apply beat-matched chases or dimming etc.
Unfortunately this looks like I am going to need to make a seperate chase for each colour/dimmer combination, which is a bit silly.

Has anyone ever used cans of this type, or does anyone have any bright ideas as to how this can be achieved?
Any help would be gratefully received!

Kind regards
Ben

Damn, I had a feeling that might be the case.

I had foolishly assumed that was how these ones would be when I bought them.

Was just wondering if something clever could be done with some kind of submaster or something ;o)
A long shot but I thought it was worth it..

Maybe I'll just relegate these ones to atmospherics and get some others! :)
