fade/snap buttons turning blue

Post by tendril »

Hi

What does it mean when the fade/snap buttons turn blue?

I have some single scene sequences for a laser on the override buttons and some multiscene sequences I run from the submaster.

I am having problems when I switch between a sequence run in the submaster and one run from the override buttons. Occasionally (and I can't seem to find a predictable reason why) the override buttons won't click off. If I override, say, button A with button B it takes a double click. I can then click button B off, but the sequence on button A is still running, even though the button light is off. This means I can't run a sequence in the submaster.

When this has happened, the fade/snap buttons on the fixture slider popout on the right of the screen have turned plain blue.

This is frustrating the bejebus out of me.

What functional knowledge am I missing here please.

Hi,

I did not experience this behaviour of FS until now. I should try it out the next time...

The fact that a slider button colors blue, would mean that there's a manual override active, not from the override button panel, but normally by clicking in one of the windows like color, gobo, pan/tilt or by moving a slider from the fixture.
What happens if you click on the blue slider button or the "all release" button? Is everthing back to normal again?

If I understand your description of the problem correctly, it looks like an FS bug to me...

Yes, both clicking on the blue button on the slider panel and clicking release all will cure the issue. However, is this the way that the override buttons are supposed to function? i.e. once they have been clicked once, even when not active their value is still sent to the fixture? Also does double clicking an override button have an effect?

I have noticed that some buttons behave differently. On most, a second click at an interval (not a double click) will turn the button off (blue led off). On others this doesn't turn it off. I think this is where my problems stem from but there is little in the help on this level of complexity.

Which file holds the override button data? Maybe I can open this up in an editor and take a look at how the individual buttons are saved.

Am I even using the override function correctly? My idea has been to create sequences of laser scenes to form a preprogrammed show, and then to have the option of overriding the preprogrammed show and creating an 'on the fly' show from a bank of single scenes on the override panel. These buttons are not set to flash as I want them to hold until the next scene is pressed.

Ta muchly for any help on this

I appear to have cured the problem. I deleted the override pages and made new ones, but didn't use the column of buttons on the right hand side. I don't know why there was a problem with this column of buttons.
