Momentary external control

Post by kwelch007 »

Hi all,

Firstly, I'd just like to say how helpful I've found this community...unheard of!

I've been using using keyboard shortcuts, and have (as described in a previous thread) been considering using an old midi keyboard as a controller. Just happened to run into another LD the other day who was doing the same thing, and he liked it, so I've decided to try it.

Setup wise, I think it should be straight forward. I think I can do everything I want with over-rides, but I have two questions:

1) Override Feature specific: say I normally have my front-lights overridden to be a solid color. Then, let's say I trigger an override button which overrides my front-lights. When I cancel the override button, will my front lights go back to their previous override setting? (I can try it...just thought I'd ask without having to set all that crap up :)

2) Can I make keyboard/midi controls "momentary?" That is, say I have a key somewhere that triggers an override. I would like for that key to "turn on" the override while I'm holding it, and release the override when I release the key. Dunno if there's some scripting or something I can do to accomplish this, but it's not obvious in the docs if I can...would be nice (I do a lot of moments where I black the stage and turn on a "crowd blinder" and also would like it for strobe-effect which only last a few seconds.)

Thanks!
Kendell

After a little more playing (without plugging anything in,) it would seem that the keyboard overrides are already momentary (that is, when pressed - activated...when released - deactivated and back to previous state.) I'll do a little more experimentation and let you all know.

Oh...it's the "Flash Button" option on the override.
