Visualizer Help!

Post by djharryg »

I'm really needed to stop hooking all my lights up to program some cues. How can I use the 3D visualizer? I'm not sure that my specific lights are part of the program. If they are not, how do I obtain their profiles?

The lights you outline are available in the Martin Visualiser.

see Ryan Lelek's guide at http://www.freestylerguide.com/ . It has detailed instruction on how to set up and link to the Martin LightJockey visualiser and links to download the program itself.

Freestyler doesn't seem to have these fixtures in it's fixture list. You can use the fixture creator to add fixtures to freestyler. There are details in the above guide too.

What you basically do is setup a new fixture in the creator and tell it how many dmx channels it has. Then name the channels. There are boxes for lamp, strobe, gobo etc and you can fill these in. It takes time, especially if you need to make custom gobo images or macros. However, as long as you name the channels correctly, you can still programme the light in Freestyler without setting up the gobos etc. You just won't have the gobo, pan, tilt or colour editor. This isn't a problem if the Martin visualiser has the fixture in it's bank. You use the pop out slider bank on the right of the freestyler desktop to adjust the individual channels for your fixture. Correctly setup, the martin visualiser will display these values correctly.

i.e. if the martin visualiser has a ring gobo associated with value 44 of channel 3 and you change the value of channel 3 in freestyler to 44, then you will see a ring gobo.

hope this hasn't muddied the waters too much
