I'm cross posting this to hopefully get some traffic and help on this issue:

If you have any thoughts, or alternative methods to visual a single color par that I can patch into the visualizer to help with color dimming, it would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Chris

Re: Help with parcan 64 in visualizer
Hi, I would like to help but dont fully understand all your question. ....??
If I am right you are concerned about the blue light turning white when you reduce the intensity. If you are doing this via a visualiser that is probably not the case when doing it with a fixture. PC graphics cards and the vis software sometimes produce weird colours as intensity reduces.

Re: Help with parcan 64 in visualizer
Yes you are correct in understanding the issue, the hardware does dim normally when I move the slider from 0-255.....no worries there, my issue is the simulation within the visualizer, the way the par is set up, 255 to 128 is just "blue" (or whatever par color) and 0-127 turns the blue white, and then reduces the intensity of the white....so if I'm trying to see how a show would look with any other color but "white", its hard to look and see what is really happening when multiple pars are running.....ultimately the visualized show looks odd and you really don't get a proper understanding of how it will look when it keeps switching between the par color and white when the intensity slider moves around > for instance when you the FX sine, the output results in the visualizer are very difficult to understand unless you manual step it slowly one step at a time......I've seen the sine in hardware, it works fine, so its not a software issue persay, more of a fixture issue in the visualizer.
I've looked at the scan library editor, but I don't see a way to do both intensity and color in parallel, its almost treating it like a gobo scale (if you know what I mean?)
Thanks for trying to help out.

Re: Help with parcan 64 in visualizer
is the turning blue to white how your light actually works or just how it is being seen in the visualiser? the visualiser is quite fucked at the moment to be honest and thats because of the people who make it... I have had issues with colours acting strange but I fixed it by opening up the fixture in scanlibrary editor then re-saving with lets say a 2 added to the filename i.e. light.xxx to light2.xxx then re-adding light2 to the visualiser!

Re: Help with parcan 64 in visualizer
It purely a visualizer issue as you mentioned. I've tried to modify the pars as you mention, but its seems to be working as one would expect.......if the range is 0-127 for intensity and the color is 128 to 255, when I move the slider, the visualizer show the light instensity increase between 0-127 in freestyler and when its between 128 and 255 it turns blue......so it "appears" to be working as one would expect......I just want to see the blue either be full blue, half blue, or off blue.....but I can't seem to figure out how to make the par can do that.
In hardware, zero issues, its works perfectly, so mostly a visualizer issue. Because my shows are complex, it would help to see them exactly as they are supposed to be, the blue/color to white thing makes it hard to see. I want a fully functional visualizer model before I go and tear my lights apart to make all the changes from old to new. Can't be doing gigs without lights while I try to figure it out.......so that is why I'm pushing to hard to figure this mess out.
I will try your rename thing and see if it yields any fruit.
thanks!

Re: Help with parcan 64 in visualizer [SOLVED....WHOOHOO]
I figured it out, by added the "free" option to the fixture, you can preset it to whatever color you want.....and blamo, its work.....I was using a par can, but tried it on a 64 also, results are the same......I attached here so if you want to see what I mean, then you will get the gist. The answer really comes from the visualizer author site where he talks about a gobo that shakes and does shake.....but the same principle applies here with color and intensity as two separate functions.

Anyway, I tried a sine function and it completely visualizes as it should.....
Enjoy
