Freestyler and DMX issues

Hi,
I am having issues connecting to my DL-55-1 and LED PAR 64 cans. My friend used the same exact DMX/USB cord I am using as well as the exact same lights. I updated my drivers and I am using the Enttec open DMX interface as he did. The cord also has a little light blink when it is working; when he used the lights the usb blinked whenever freestyler was on but for me it only blinks when freestyler is on and the usb/dmx cord is plugged into one of the lights. The lights all worked for him, but aren't working for me. PLEASE HELP!

To exclude some error-factors:
- Could you try your dmx dongle on your friend's system? Does that work? If not, your dongle is faulty
- Could you perhaps try one of his fixtures on your dongle/computer? That excludes faulty lamps

I once had a fourbar with a malfunction in its DMX-part, sending erroneous signals along the DMX line, resulting in all fixtures failing to respond.

yes and it all still works on his computer, we share the lights so we switch off every once in a while. But I think the problem is with the USB-RS485 cable I'm using, which apparently doesn't work with some computers. If that helps in helping me out haha.
