Pan/Tilt programming question

I set up a new fixture using fixture creator but when i open freestyler and move my mouse to any position in the pan or tilt the fixture just keeps repeating itself in movement. The colors and strobing work but the color and strobing are flickering weirdly . Is it a refresh thing or a different dmx protocol or am I setting something up wrong? It works fine using Quickshow but I rather use it with the rest of my led par cans in freestyler dmx. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for help beforehand.

You can open the output window and there you can see what the dmx values that are send on each DMX channel.
You can then compare it to the channels on the fixture.

Not sure how that helps my situation. example; if i set the dmx value of the pan to 125 and the tilt to 155 the head just keep moving. If i set it to for example 25 tilt and 55 pan it keeps moving but a smaller pattern than the first settings i mentioned. Now if i set the both to 0 the fixture stops like it should but once I give either the pan or tilt a number its head starts to move and it wont stop. I want to be able to set the pan and tilt and it stay in one spot. The lamp also flickers so Its a set up somewhere in freestyler software as it works fine immedietely when used in quickshow software

why can the DMX ouput screen can help?
so you can see if Freestyler Sends all the value's. if FS send the value's as you say then i think the Fixture file is faulty so if you say which light you use (PDF would be great) and which fixture file you use.
i can see why the light keeps moving..

If the fixture file is one you have created your self then export it as pff file and upload it here.


What interface are you using.?

In the setup where you select interface, there also are an "Advanced" prarmeter "refresh rate" you may have to increase this time.

I'm using the DMXKING ultraDMX. The refresh rate only goes from 20 to 50 in advanced setup. When I choose a pan/tilt number from 1 to 255 it just repeats the step over and over again like it keeps getting a dmx message repeately. If i set them to 0 it stops moving completely. If I set the color to any color it chooses the right color but flashes intermitently like strobing effect. The pff is attached. The refresh rate in advanced is only between 20 and 50 whatever those numbers signify?

hi can you be a little more specific about the MH you use..

and the refreash rate is 20 Is faster then 50...
and some fixtures can be overloaded with info if its on a Refresh rate of 20...
there show strange thing happening..

Sounds to me that either your DMX cable is damaged which can cause erratic behavior or a dmx cable inside the unit is damaged (From the input to the circuit board) or the light has reveresed pins 2 and 3 like a Martin 812!

Just a note if you have an other fixture parcan what so ever then try it and see how this behave.

This way you can detect if you DMX signal is OK.

As I mention in my 1st message I have other led fixtures connected with freestye dmx and they work excellent. They are running as I type without problem. The fixtures I'M trying to get working are simple mini moving head leds made in china by focus 9 using 4 channels. 1 pan 2 tilt 3 color and 4 strobing. I've used and built fixtures for freestyler for a few years without problem. When I switch the software to quickshow and use quick dmx the mini moving heads work fine after i set everything up. But I like many features of freestyler so I am working hard to get my mini moving heads to work properly with this software.I have a windows 7 32 bit laptop a dmxking ultradmx interface and many new cables on hand. The dmx signal works excellent with my fixed led par cans but just not my moving heads using freestyler but as I mentioned the work fine with Pangolins quickshow. I also use an Akia midi keyboard.

I am a bit low on ideas.

It sounds like the FreeStyler is working correct.

And my only idea is that the refresh rate is to fast and you have tried 50mS so no ideas.

I guess that it is the same problem if you only have one fixture add in FreeStyler and only one fixture connected.
Also you can try to adjust the faders in the right side "Fader panel" it is a bit easier to fin adjust the dmx values ad thereby detect if there are any conflict in the values that are send to the fixture.
