Backup & Restore - V3.5.1 (Is it only me....??)

Hi all,

I have managed to backup and restore quite often however I am having huge difficulty now so I thought I would ask if I was doing it right and whether any folks are having the same problem.

I have been through the forum/wiki and using the backup function as instructed.

Firstly I need to be able to work on 3 different PC's (work arrangements, develop/testing PC, show PC etc) so quite frequently need to be able to update the other two when I work on another. I upload the backup files to dropbox and then restore the update on the next PC I intend to use.

Unfortunately there now seems to be an issue. It may be something I am/am not doing. When I go to restore a file I get the following - ''Error occured while restoring backup'' in an "error warning'' window. And on the backup/restore window - 'Restore failed'

I have all the PC's updated to V3.5.1.

If this is a know issue and to get over the problem for now could someone please advise on all the files I would need to manually copy over. I tried all the FSD files however that does not work either so must be missing one or two....??

Any advice much appreciated.

hi

yes this is a Known Issue if you upload you Backup on the FSBT the devolper can take a look at it and hopefully solve the issue..

and all the .FSD files are settings file.
Touch.FSD for TUI2
obtns.FSD for ?
Udp.FSD for the udp settings
Midi.FSD for midi settings
Keyb.FSD for keyboard settings
Fixts.FSD i think fixture settings..

But for Midi and Tui2 you can create a Sepearate dedicated Save file

But for now you need to copy the Chases and Cues directory from the Freestyler directory..
and create a Location file, i think this will help..

Thanks for your help again.

I have signed into FSBT and trying to upload the backup file but it is not accepting it. I just get an error message all the time and asking me to hit the back button and try again.The file is only 12937K so I dont understand what is happening here.

I have attached a zip file via here if this can be of any help....??

Thats because a rar file isnt allowed , but the backup can be uploaded.
Otherwise remove one R from .rar
As example backup.ra the devolper knows what to do.

It was the backup file I was trying to upload. I did try a rar file and was told the format was unacceptable....??

I have tried to upload the file (backup not RAR) on BT but again I get the following -

APPLICATION ERROR #401

Please use the "Back" button in your web browser to return to the previous page. There you can correct whatever problems were identified in this error or select another action. You can also click an option from the menu bar to go directly to a new section.

oke as example your add you backup to a .RAR file. so you get "as example" Backup.RAR.

now remove ONE "R" from .RAR
so you get "Backup.RA"
".RA "is a Not known file format and the FSBT will accept it..
and the devolper knows what to do.

otherwise upload your file to dropbox if have have that and add the link..

Does that mean that you/developer dont need the file any more...??

Does that also mean the bug (if any) is just registered for fixing in the next release...?/

i closed 3 of the 5 Issue reports you made because they where all the same..

also added a backup file from my self beause i had the same issue...

Ahh, I see. I thought that none of the bug reports were uploaded hence I kept trying......

i'm sure its a bug from the beginning i use FS around version 3.2.1 i think..
i have Backup issue sometime it works and other times it dont...
