Submaster dont stop chases
Hi,
I have a problem with the submasters.
Here is what i have.
I use rgb led spots.
The first submaster has colors in it.
The second submaster has color fades and chases in it.
When i start a color chase in submaster 2 and after that pick a color in submaster 1 the color changes but i ts not the rogjt color and the chase dosn't stop.
The problem startet after software version....2.4 i mean.
Also the newest version has the problem.
Who knows what's wrong?
Tnx
Wesley

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
It sounds like the chase sequences in SM 2 are conflicting with the static sequences in SM 1 - I assume they both affect the same channels on your fixtures. This is expected behavior, for two reasons. First, Freestyler runs with LTP (last takes precedence), meaning that if you have two submasters that affect a channel, the last one to make a change takes precedence. Also, starting one submaster doesn't stop another submaster. So, here is what is happening:
Start SM 2 with a chase. Things work as expected. Set SM 1 to Red and start it. The fixtures turn red. However, SM 2 is still running and moves to the next step in the sequence, let's say it's Blue. Now what you will have is a fixture that just turned purple (if that step in SM 2 only affects the blue channel).
To get around this, you either need to stop SM 2 before starting SM 1, or reprogram things so that you don't have multiple submasters that affect the same channel fixtures. Hope that helps!

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
Thanks for this reply.
It sounds like this is the problem.
In version 3.4.4 (not 2.4 as i said) it worked like i have now.
Maybe it was an error in that version?
I will now rewrite the color changes for fixtures in the same submaster.
It was easy for me in the old way, because the static colours were in one submaster and fades in another.
now i have to scroll down more.
Any ideas to solve this?

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
Well, it IS possible to have multiple submasters that affect the same fixtures - you just need to be aware that, as you've discovered, they can conflict with each other and produce unexpected results. The way I get around this is to have a "bypass" sequence that has one step and literally NO fixtures in it, so that it has no effect on anything in the system and just acts as a placeholder.
By way of example: I have a group of 16 PAR64 lights. I have two submasters for static scenes, one for the inner 8 and one for the outer 8. I also have a submaster with various chase scenes that involve all 16 PAR's. In the 2 static submasters, I have a scene that blacks out all the PAR's for that submaster, and in the chase submaster I have the above-mentioned bypass sequence. When I'm running static scenes, I run the bypass sequence on the chase submaster. When I want to run a chase, I run the blackout sequences on the static submasters and my selected chase on the chase submaster. I should note that I have all three of these submasters linked into a submaster group, so that when I run one, all three run at the same time.
This configuration also allows me a bit of flexibility, in that if I want, I can have a chase run through a static scene. Obviously this might not look as nice with LED PAR's, but it's cool with the conventionals that I use
Hopefully that gets you pointed in the right direction!

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
Hey Hambone,
It works with this way.
So now i have to make an extra step to stop the chases.
I don't understand this:
I should note that I have all three of these submasters linked into a submaster group, so that when I run one, all three run at the same time.
What runs the same time?

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
If you right-click on the list of sequences in a submaster, you will get a menu that shows 10 different submaster groups along with some other options. This way you can link different submasters together so that their intensity is the same and they all run and stop at the same time.
As an example, right-click on Submaster 1 and click on "SM Group 1". Now right-click on Submaster 2 and click on "SM Group 1" again. Now you will find that if you adjust the intensity slider on Submaster 1, the slider on Submaster 2 will also move. If you adjust the intensity on Submaster 2, the intensity on Submaster 1 will move. Clicking the Run or Stop buttons on either submaster will run or stop both submasters.
It's a wonderfully handy feature

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
Ok i know that te submasters wil act with te intensity slider.
Didnt find out that the start and stop also worked on both.
So if you have a SM with static colours and one with chases. you cant use that?
Because it starts the same time

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
hi i'm reading this Topic from the beginning but i can Explain you what happens..
The submasters can Act as LTP or HTP
http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/d ... tp_and_htp
The ledpar can be a Triky Fixture With freestyler because some Ledpars RGB channels act as LTP and other as HTP..
How to see if your RGB channels act as HTP or LTP.
this is realy easy because ALL Ledpars that have a RGB channel will work as HTP.
All the Ledpars with RGB and a Seperate DImmer channel will work as LTP. and the Dimmer will act as HTP.
So with ledpars that only have a RGB channel it looks like this. So RGB as HTP
if you have 2 submasters, SM1 = Color chase SM2 = Static colors..
On Sm1 you play a Chase
Step 1 = R 255 G 000 B 000
Step 2 = R 000 G 255 B 000
Step 3 = R 000 G 000 B 255
Intensitie slider FULL
Sm2 =
Step 1 = R 255 G 000 B 000
Intensitie slider FULL
FS will ouput
Step 1 = R 255 G 000 B 000
Step 2 = R 255 G 255 B 000
Step 3 = R 255 G 000 B 255
So to solve this you can Create a Sequence on Both Submasters that say: Step1= R 000 G 000 B 000 and play that to affoid Values to be merged.
OR just drag the Intensitie slider to 0%
So play a Chase, Sm1 = Intensitie slider to 100% Sm2= Intensitie slider to 0%
So play a Static, Sm1 = Intensitie slider to 0% Sm2= Intensitie slider to 100%

Tnx!
My ledpars have a separate dimmer channel.
So what you mean is that the thing you explained is only for Ledpars without dimchannels?

Re: Submaster dont stop chases
yes i meant a Fixture with Only a RGB channel , NO dimmer channel.
But your fixture also have a Dimmer so this should be easy...
Because this means your RGB will Act as LTP and Dimmer as HTP.
but it seams you programmed it wrong Or Your fixture file is Bad...
But for a Tip
Its Realy!!!!! importend durring programming you set all channel to Fade or snap or off the correct way..
If you create a Dimmer chase , ONLY set the dimmer channel to Fade or snap.
If you create a RGB chase/Static Besure the Red, Green and blue channel is set to Fade or Snap..
As example.
For dimmer
Step1, Dim = 255 FADE/SNAP , R = 000 OFF , G = 000 OFF , B = 000 OFF
For a RGB chase
Step1, Dim = 000 OFF , R = 255 FADE/SNAP , G = 000 FADE/SNAP , B = 000 FADE/SNAP
Step2, Dim = 000 OFF , R = 000 FADE/SNAP , G = 255 FADE/SNAP , B = 000 FADE/SNAP
Step3, Dim = 000 OFF , R = 000 FADE/SNAP , G = 000 FADE/SNAP , B = 255 FADE/SNAP
For a Static Color (RED)
Step1, Dim = 000 OFF , R = 255 FADE/SNAP , G = 000 FADE/SNAP , B = 000 FADE/SNAP
i also Tested it with a Fixture file i made and it works Perfect, NO problem..

NO because this works AS LTP so if i press a Static color on SM3 it will be a Static color.
if i press a Chase on SM2 it will play a Chase as the link i showed you..
LTP control channel – “Whatever was just said – let’s do that !!”
and if everything is Programmed correct it will work correct.

ahhhhh Yes if this is the fixture you use i see the problem.
Becasue channel4 is called DIMMER but there is no Dimmer/Intensitie channel assinged on the Fixture file..
so your RGB channel will act as HTP....
but now i'm going to shower and to bed and if you still have a quation i wil anwer Tomorrow...
