Enttec ODE Reset

Post by cubemusic »

Hi,

I´m a newbie with FS and I´m working with 4 LED Pars from Stairville (Mini Stage 4x8 RGBW) as a basis. Later on there will be 24 of them, controlled via PC and ipad. I got it running so far with Luminaire on the ipad and with FS on the (Intel i5-)PC with Windows 7, 64 Bit, prof..

Due to the fact that there doesn´t exist fixtures for the ´Mini Stage´-LED-Pars by Stairville, I created my own ones with the fixture creator of FS. I added some macros too, and there is a thing I don´t understand:

Let´s say I set up macro that has three values (channel 8=dimmer=255, channel 7=mode=20 (for simple color usage), and channel 1=red=255 (maximum brightness red)) - everything works fine so far.
Now I tried to create a reset macro, and so I just created one with all values set to zero. Now, when I press the button of my ´red´-macro, the first of my 4 Pars lights red. But when I presss ´reset´, on one hand it gets dark as it should be but on the other hand it doesn´t react anymore at all. So when I press ´red´ again - nothing happens. Not even when I do a reset in the FS-setup. I actually have to restart FS to be able to start from scratch. The only thing that seems to work is: I press a macro for all 4 of my Pars, one after the other, and when I reset all of them, number 4 still works - the others won´t.

Is there any way to do a real overall reset for one or all fixtures. This is urgently needed because I also need that when working with Luminaire and FS alternating.

I hope there is some help.

Thanx in advance,

Philip

Hej Philip

Please upload the manual and the fixture so we can have a look on it.

(Export the fixture to pff format and upload it)

I have had a look on the fixture and the manual.
There is nothing wrong there.
You have channel 7 set to value 20. Can’t see that it has any function in the DMX table but that is not an error.

I have opened the output window in FreeStyler and the values looks correct when I uses the macros.
The output changes as expected.

This lead me to that it may have something to do with the USB - DMX or the Parcan.
There is a “Refresh rate” and reset in the setup menu. It is where you setup the interface type.

Think it is there you have to look.

But what puzzle me is that the last Parcan still works. This indicates that both Freestyler and the usb dongle works correct.

Have you tried to just have one parcan connected and do you have a termination / “DMX end”.
And does the same happens when you manually set all the faders to 0.

This is again what lead me to think about the hw. and not the program.
Do you have the possibility to try some other (totally different) fixtures.
If they works correct then you have to look at the parcans.

Just a small comment to your fixture. There is a RBG color control enable that one and if you only want to use a few colors in Freestyler then set the palette to Basic.
http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/f ... figuration , look at "Full Color Control"

Hi Jan,

thank you so far for your kind help.

I tried all your tipps, unfortunatelly without success. I tried the refresh rate in the setup, I tried just one lamp, I tried with and without termination, I tried to use the faders manually - the problem remains.

Unfortunatelly I don´t have other fixtures to test, because I only bought these types to install them in my recording studio as ambient light. And I would love to use them in the 8-chan-mode to have access to all the features of the pars like strobe and music controlled mode,...

But I found out something else: Let´s say, I press the red macro, and all (or one) fixtures light in red (which always works after having started FS new and pressed a macro button for the first time), then they turn off when I press my ´reset´macro. So far so good. And as I said, nothing happens when I press for example the blue macro.
But perhaps this is not completely true, because every time I press for example red diretctly after blue, I get purple. Or I get yellow when I press firstly red and then green or the other way round. That means: Somewhere on the way from the software to the fixtures, this first information is saved, then combined with the next color call, and then the fixtures shows the mixed result. This always works - each and every time.

But there is one situation that´s different: When I have pressed ´reset´ and then press the ´white´ (or ´amber´ (right now I have two RGBA-ones and two RGBW-ones))-macro, the pars always work as expected -two in amber, two in white - full brightness, no second command needed.

Does that ring a bell in any way?

By the way: All this doesn´t happen at all with Luminaire. I can change colors and modes exactly the way I want it. So my guess is, it could be either the hardware or FS or the way, both ´talk´ to each other.

Strange...

(btw - there is no way, I´m dissing your beautiful piece of software - it´s great and I love it! That´s why I try to find a way to use it...)

Hej again

That the color mixes is due to the way you made the macros.

When you presse the red then you only set the value for channal 1. You have not entered any value for the Blue or green.
When you press the blue then you have only a value for channel 2.

If you want to turn off the red then you have to enter a 0 in channel 1 for the blue macro.
The macro only touch the channels where you have entered a value.

That was why I gave you the link to the wiki.

I have made an alternative fixture you can try.
Open it in Fixture Creator ten you can have a look.
I have not set channel 7 to the value 20 as you have because I don't know what it does.
Stairville_mini_Stage_Par_QCL_RGBW_8ch.pff
And I don't know if it works.

Finally. There is only one to take the credit for this Software and that is Raphael.
The rest of us are volunteers that are trying to support other users. :D
