Slow Fading Color Scroll Effect

Post by spankthafunk »

Is there a way to make a set of LEDs (say 8) do a rainbow color scroll pattern easily?

I suppose I could make a long sequence:

1
LED1 Yellow, LED2, Orange, LED3 Red, LED4 UV, LED5 Magenta, LED6 Blue, LED7 green, LED8 White
2
LED1 White, LED2, Yellow, LED3 Orange, LED4 Red, LED5 UV, LED6 Magenta, LED7 Blue, LED8 Green
etc

But that sounds painful. Is there an easier way?

(3 Channel LEDs, RGB only.)

yes you can use the FX generator to do a Rainbow effect.
you need to create 3 Sequences.
Effect = SINE and Distribute evenly Enabled
Channel = red
now press Generate,, and save the sequence.

now do the same For the Green channel and Blue channel.
Now put the, on the cue and playback all three Sequence and there you have a Rainbow effect.

Hej spirit don't think you will get a rainbow effect that way.

When all 3 sine colors seq are started they will all syncrone increase there values and just look like a color that are dimmed.

I have not tried this in practice

Make a 3 step sequence with Red step Green step then blue step and set the buttons to fade, use 6000 as global fade time and scene time. This will give you a perfect fade.

I don't want all fixtures to be the same color at the same time. I want 10 different fixtures to create a rainbow and have that rainbow do a sort of "chase". But none of the ten fixtures should ever be the same color at any given time.

With 8 fixtures and 8 colors, you would need to program 8 steps..

Step one
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
Purple
Orange
White
Amber

Step two
Blue
Green
Yellow
Purple
Orange
White
Amber
Red

Etc....

Thats what I was thinking. I wasn't sure if there was a quick way to create it with an effects generator or something.

With a Jands system you would select all, choose any color, and fan the color encoder.
