Just downloaded the software but can't seem to get anything working. This is my setup:
Windows Vista Laptop
Enttec DMX USB PRO
1 3-Channel RGB Strip
Having trouble figuring out which com port to use as Vista doesn't easily show you in Device Manager like XP use to.
I also don't see any "generic" 3 channel led lights. I created my own in the fixture creator but heaven only knows if I did that right. Right now I'm not getting anything.
I do know setup works because I can run Chamsys MagicQ and get playback with the LED light.

Re: Newbie can't get anything working
Have you selected the correct interface in the list?
Go to Freestyler setup option, then the interface tab, then select the entec Pro. Usually on Com3 but sometimes Com8.
YOu may need to go into the windows device manger in control panel to makesure the correct com port is selected.
Makesure you have installed the Driver from Entec.

If the fixture is an RGB being Ch1= Red Ch2=Green Ch3=Blue then even a LED Par 3 channel should give you the same results.
Hopefully this helps.

For some reason, Vista isn't showing the normal PORTS dropdown box that you would find in XPYOu may need to go into the windows device manger in control panel to makesure the correct com port is selected.
I have downloaded the correct driver, and can verify the dongle is working properly via MagicQ.Makesure you have installed the Driver from Entec.

I can also use the Enttec Pro Utility tool to send dmx signal to get my LEDs to work.
I'm not seeing a basic 3 channel par fixture in the list. Do I need to create it myself, or is there an updated list?If the fixture is an RGB being Ch1= Red Ch2=Green Ch3=Blue then even a LED Par 3 channel should give you the same results.
I appreciate you trying! I know it's gotta be something simple...Hopefully this helps.

Re: Newbie can't get anything working
I got it working for anyone who has this problem in the future.
On vista, I had to go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controllers > USB Serial Converter > Properties (Double click or Right Click for Properties)
Then Advanced Tab > Use VCP
It appears you have to tell the adapter to be a "Virtual Com Port (VCP)" for it to work correctly.
After saving that, I unplugged the device for 30 seconds and plugged it back in. Windows refound the hardware and downloaded drivers. I then went back into Device Manager and now have the PORTS option, with my USB Device listed as COM4.
I restarted Freestyler, selected COM4 and am up and running!
