Kam Par Bar
Hi all,
Please excuse me as this is my first forray into dmx lighting and control.
First off
I'm using a Kam Par Bar
http://www.kam.co.uk/index.php?action=p ... uct_id=395
which I thought would be a straight forward unit to use for first time, i do know its not thje best lights out there but funds etc, and where i'll be using it it will suffice.
Controll ed via freestyler via a Enttec DMX usb pro.
I've created a fixture file which is hopefully attached.
below is the dmx channels
DMX table
DMX channel Value Function
Channel 1
000 – 009 Black out
010 – 029 Program 1
030 – 049 Program 2
050 – 069 Program 3
070 – 089 Program 4
090 – 109 Program 5
110 – 129 Program 6
130 – 149 Program 7
150 – 169 Program 8
170 – 189 Program 9
190 – 209 Program 10
210 – 229 Program 11
230 – 249 Auto Mode: Internal Programs
250 – 255 Sound Controlled Mode
Channel 2
000 – 009 Black out
010 – 255 Master dimmer 0-100%
Channel 3
000 – 009 Black out
010 – 255 Strobe speed slow to fast
Channel 4 Spot 1 red Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 5 Spot 1 green Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 6 Spot 1 blue Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 7 Spot 2 red Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 8 Spot 2 green Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 9 Spot 2 blue Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 10 Spot 3 red Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 11 Spot 3 green Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 12 Spot 3 blue Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 13 Spot 4 red Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 14 Spot 4 green Dimming from 0 – 100%
Channel 15 Spot 4 blue Dimming from 0 – 100%
This file works and I have control of the rig via a korg nano control. Sliders etc all work.
My problem is I can't seem to get the sound to light despite the fact that the manual suggests that channel 1 values 250 - 255.
Also no way of changing speed of prgram steps it appears, theres no DMX channel for speed, but there is a way of changing it on thje Kam controller box, but no matter what value I change that to it doesn.t seem to effect the speed of program steps.
Any help greatfully receioved.
Thanks

Hej mr_coops
I am not sure that I can help you but have you tried to let it run as stand alone in sound mode.
Just to see that it works.

Re: Kam Par Bar
Have had a look on your fixture and have some comments.
You have not filled in many parameters in the Configuration panel To controll all the RGB channels I would use RGB Segments. And finally make the program control in the Macro.
Have eventually a look in the Wiki there everything should be described.

Jan_K
Yes it works as stand alone unit sound to light.
As i've said earlier, I'm completely new to this and did use the wiki to help me create this fixture.
What parameters do I need to fill in in the config panel? Or should I be putting a numberr in all of the boxes? Where 0 equals no control I guess.
Again i regards to RGB segments I did look at this but it was confusing as was the macro section.
I will re read the wiki and see what I can work out.
thanks for replies

Hej mr_coops
It is more like this one just you don't have the white conrtol.
http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/f ... can:arc2_s
And as you detected then in my screen dump there are the values entered.
Just want you to do the changes your self so you learn a bit.
When you come to the macros then it is just an image and a value on a channel.
But the sound issue I am a bit lost there.
If you have full control over the fixture then it is no related to FreeStyler.
Could be funny to try the fixture on an other controller.

Re: Kam Par Bar
Hi,
On some Fixture you need to Set the Sound level on the Fixture them Self.
and Maby the value 250->255 is only Enable Sound value.

Re: Kam Par Bar
Thanks for the replies guys
Yers I'd rather do it myself as well to be honest it's the only way to learn but advice is alsways greatfully received!
Basically on the units control bar I can set it to DMX, Auto, Snd. The Snd setting makes it sound reactive and then there is a dial on the bqar to alter microphone settings. This setting works, its when I try channel 1 at the stated values nothing seems to work, wel it doesa change but vedry intermittently.
As I've said though I'll look further at my fixture make the changes suggested and then look again at the sound to light stuff.
Thanks again

Re: Kam Par Bar
Hi, I am also new to this, in fact this is my first experience with USB-DMX. I own a Kam Par Bar Mk1 and 2 Kam Hexaflowers, could somebody possibly help me to config the fixtures etc?

Re: Kam Par Bar
Hej RichardM
With a littel luck mr_coops have the fixture for the par bar.
The Hexaflowers is a fine way to learn about DMX start building the fixture.
There are a lot of "Fixture Creator" info and tutorial on the "Wiki" so have a look there.
You have to read
Open fixture creator. Make a 9 channel fixture.
If I had to do this fixture I would place the control like bellow.
The strobe is direct on CH7.
Auto mode / Progs / mode, Placed on Gobo wheel 1
Speed in auto mode on Gobo wheel 1 rotation control.
And Channel 1 to 6 as macro.
Give it a try and upload it here then we will guide you.
