Question for the advanced Freestyler lighting programmers...

Post by Kings »

I'll give you a bit of background on how I program by attribute first:

•Firstly I create a number of sequences for each fixture but for the one attribute only (i.e. shutter, open, shutter closed, shutter fast strobing, shutter slow strobing etc)
•I load these sequences into the submaster window so that I have column for each attribute such as movements, colours, gobos, shutter etc.
•I then run a sequence from each column until a get a ‘look’ that I like (e.g. magenta chase sweeping the dance floor)
•I then save this lighting state to a cue button for easy recall later on

So I may have fixture A occupying the first 5 columns of the submaster, fixture B on the next 4 or 5 and so on.

So my problem is if I have a cue button with a lighting state for one fixture only (i.e. a combination of attribute specific sequences) and another cue button with a lighting state for a different fixture, both will not work at the same time. The last cue button selected will always determine what is happening. Only a few attributes from the previous cue button remain such as colour.

I understand that this is LTP (Latest Take Precedence) behaviour. My vision is to have different fixtures doing different things until I tell them otherwise via the cue buttons, instead of running sequences via the submasters window only.

Is there any way to run more than one fixture at a time so that fixture A continues to do its thing while I trigger fixture B to begin a chase just by using the cue buttons?

I hope this makes sense.

No there is no Way you can run two Cuelist buttons at the same time.

and the only thing i can come up with is or Use the Submasters.
Or use the Submaster 1 to 10 and use 11 to 20 for a Cuelistbutton.
but i do not use this all the time so i'm not sure iff Freestyler Still let you run Submaster 1-10 and Cuelist button with sequence 11 to 20 run at the same time.
Lots of new version releases. With older verion i was possible.

i hope this will work.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It would have been good to run more than one cuelist button at a time so that I could set it up for novice users.

I think your right, in previous versions you could control more than one fixture using a combination of the cuelist buttons and submasters. The latest version doesnt appear to allow this.

Don't load sequences into the Submaster. You have to save your sequences with the attributes you want to a Cue. Then you load your Cues to the Submasters. Now you can run multiple Cues.
