Moving Heads Not calibrated

Post by mobilegreg »

I am having a problem with some generic moving heads that are a chinese version of the Chauvet MinSpot. They use all the same menu options and channel assignments. When I try to program a location with the pan/tilt, and then go to the same location again, the lights are in different places even though the DMX values for all the pan tilt settings are the same. Any Ideas?

Never buy cheap Asian lights!

Oh wait, there all from China these days.

I take it that all of your heads do the same thing?
I think there maybe a problem with how you are operating / programming them.

Its not likely that the heads will just do there own thing on the positioning unless they are faulty.
If there is a problem with the sensor that tells the board where the heads pan and tilt is at or to move to, then yes they could end up anywhere. If they are old units they take all casings off and blow out all the crap with compressed air and genrally have a good clean up. This will help as pan and tilt sensors are very often an optical diode that reads on off codes from a wheel with cuts in it (a very crude explination!). When they get dirt on them they cant read properly.

Anyway I dont think thats the problem here. I think its maybe how you are programming that may be wrong.
