Sound 2 Light feature request

Post by wardomon »

This has been discussed before. Here's what I envision...

Turn the intensity off.
Point lights at the drum riser.
Hit the snare softly.
Light 1 (Yellow) comes on at a low level and goes off.
Hit the ride tom softly.
Light 2 (Red) comes on at a low level and goes off.
Hit the kick softly.
Light 3(Blue) comes on at a low level and goes off.
Hit the snare really hard.
Light 1 comes on at a high level and goes off.
Hit the ride tom really hard.
Light 2 comes on at a high level and goes off.
Hit the kick really hard.
Light 3 comes on at a high level and goes off.

(and everywhere in between)

Basically it's a frequency controlled intensity follower. Nice for old school incandescent elements, Really cool for RGB fixtures!

Random is not very useful for me.

Why not make a cue / scene and set the speed to react to sound?

@Matt: That's a work around. A frequency filter that could directly drive any channel is what I'm looking for. It would be like a 60's style "color organ" except configurable.

@Matt: Other than briefly fiddling with the controls, I haven't used S2L at all. When I realized that it only triggered steps it became useless for my style of lighting. My experience using audio triggered sequences is that it will usually either jump multiple steps or none at all. Either way makes it look like random flashing lights, fine for DJ/dance music but not for live music. My guys almost always "hit their marks" on cue and I need the lights to show up on time.

Yes I hate color organs too, at least for extended periods. I'd just like to be able to directly link sound intensity to lighting intensity. It's hard to predict just where the drummer is going sometimes and it would make those snare drum accents tighter and more dynamic.
