I'm in the process of completely overhauling my lighting setup, involving re-addressing most of my fixtures to be more logically organized. Because of this I need to re-write a bunch of sequences and want to keep the same names for most of them. However, since this is a long spare-time project, I need to be able to keep my current setup intact until I'm done.
I figure the easiest way to go about it is to set up a second instance of FS to keep it completely separate from the production system. Is it possible to have multiple installs on one machine without running into problems like registry conflicts or other weirdness?
Thanks!

Re: Installing multiple instances of FS
as a beta tester i have two or three instances of fs on my computer. I have never observed any problems. I have installed FS's like this.
C:/Freestyler/Freestyler - Public Release
C:/Freestyler/Freestyler - Beta X
C:/Freestyler/Freestyler - Beta XX
Remark: when opening .pff or .fxt files, the last installed fixture creator will extract the pff file in the last installed fs/fixtures directory or open the file... if you want the fxt in another fs you have to copy/paste the file manually, or open it in the wanted fixture creator.

Re: Installing multiple instances of FS
Heh I'm a beta tester too but have always flown by the seat of my pants (i.e. alays run the latest version on my live rig and hope my lighting guy doesn't bitch
)
I was able to successfully install and run a second instance without too many issues - the biggest problem I ran into was getting MEV3D to run on the second instance... fought with it for almost an hour before I discovered that it just won't launch at all unless you have at least one fixture defined in the associated FreeStyler instance
After that everything worked perfectly.
