Velleman Open DMX & FS Suddenly won't control lights

I have a Velleman Open USB I'm using with FS version 2.96j that I have been using on my Dell Windows Vista laptop for several years with no issues.

I needed to program a new light show for an event so I hooked up everything in my home like always. No new lights, just 4 Martin SCX 500s that I have programed plenty of times before. Programed a scene and no problems, worked great. Ate lunch and turned off everything. Restarted the computer and cut the lights on and nothing. The SCX's freak out when I open the FS program and then go dark. I cannot control them at all. I pluged in a LED par and the same, nothing will work. All the lights read that there is a DMX signal but I can't control them from FS. All my cues and fixtures are still there. I have tried everything I can think of but no luck.

Any one else had this happen to them? Do you think the Velleman interface went bad? Is there a fix?

Help! I have a show this weekend.

do you have another DMX program that work with the Velleman? then you can test if it is FS or not which is the problem!!!!!

I downloaded version 3.3.2 of FS on another computer and tested it. It worked so the Velleman is working fine. This means its FS.

The last time I updated FS I completely lost all my sceens, cues and fixture settings. I had to "restore" my computer to previous save point to get it all back. I would be happy to update FS but how do I save my cues, etc without having to start all over again. I have hours invested in creating these. I tried the backup feature but the new version would not let me restore from the old version.

Or is there something I should do to my old version that will allow me to use it again.

You can always create a backup of the FS folder. Copy the content to a backup folder. If you have the setup file save it as well. Then you can try with the new version. If it not works uninstall everything and install the old version again. Copy everything back from backup folder to FS folder and you should have the old status.

Also, the error that pops up is "invalid procedure call or argument" when I try to save a cue. Any idea what this means?

Renaming the Freestyler folder to something else and reinstalling Freestyler fixed this for me.
Once reinstalled, delete the Freestyler folder and rename the original one back and Freestyler should work again.

I had to re-add my fixtures, cry cry cry Really, not a big deal, working Freestyler is worth it.
