Freestyler and BCF2000: 2 little questions

Post by MichaelVH »

Hi All,

As posted before I'm "playing" around with a BCF2000 icw Freestyler and I must admit that it works great together! Although I had some issues setting it up at first, the forum (and wiki for that matter) provided some great tools, tips and tricks to get it all going.

However; I'm currently facing some minor issues. Maybe you can help out?

1. I created a new .syx-file for the BCF2000 (button configuration changed so that I don't have to press twice for blackout etc...). The .syx-file works just fine, but every time I power-off/-on the BCF2000 again, I need to re-upload the .syx-file. (after which it works fine again untill I power it off again). Any ideas how to make the uploaded .syx-file stick? (fyi: I use SendSX to upload the .syx-file and edited it with BCEdit).

2. I've got some "spare" buttons left on my BCF2000 that I'd like to configure to change the color of my movitecs when I press them. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure how to do this? Should I change the value of the buttons (on my BCF2K) with BCEDIT to mach the value of the colour? If so, to what controls should I bind these different buttons in the setup > midi control ?

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Michael

I haven't used the pc software with the BCF, couldnt get it to work. wrong java version or something so i learnt how to manually program it so unable to help on that one.

but for question 2.

there is a previous and next colour function hiding in the midi page.

you would assign you buttons to them, and when you tap them any fixture you have highlighted would switch to either the next colour or the previous colour.

Mattotone,

thanks for your reply.
I've forgotten to share that information as well. I've managed to go back and forth (as you stated), but I really want to have a color per button..
I've read a post where someone had done that, but I haven't figured out how he/she was able to do so...

Thank you!

two ways to do that:
* assign 1 step colour sequences to override buttons and then assign the buttons to midi

* assign a midi button to "MIDI to DMX" and. enter the DMX channel for the colour of that fixture you want to control in the midi configuration, make sure the button send out the correct value when pressing it. you do this in the BCEDIT.

regarding your first question. sounds weird that your BCF don't store the syx file. are you sure you upload it correctly to the BCF? if yes, your BCF may be defect

LJ,

the override buttons seem to have done the trick! Thank you for that.

About the BCF. Apparently I was saving onto one of the default presets (in stead of present nr 9). After changing to P9 it stored permanently. :)
