I am a lomg time user and have always used sound 2 light.
I feel I am a very experienced freestyler user but the Newest S2L has me scratching my head, here are my problems:
1. Are the gobo and color wheels only by selection with s2l now? I only see channel assignments for Pan & Tilt
2. Can Fixture P&T assignments now be done to each fixture or fixture group?
3. I see many new options as far as enabling groups and such but NO explanations on how to use it.
I have been to the S2L website and read it a dozen times but still see no explanations on how to utilize the new features. I notice MANY changes that seem like they are what I want but cannot for the life of me figure out how they work.
The link to beta 1009 gives me 1008. I have tried both links with the same problem. Is it putting 1009 somewhere different? I made sure the install directory was the same.

The Wiki is very helpful but there are unanswered questions.
What does the "2000 Millisecond" thingy adjust?

First let me try to explain that S2L exists of 2 parts. 1 is the external S2L software package, the other is FreeStyler.
I've written the external S2L software and this is what the current beta looks like:

Then there is FreeStyler, FreeStyler also have an little S2L control window:

This is what I did'nt make. (But Raph, the developer of FreeStyler, did).
My S2L software closely communicates with FreeStyler to get things to work. Your question regarding the 2000 msec thingy is the time for beat inactivity for blackout a group of lights - implemented in FS.
As for the documentation about S2L: as we develop software, espcially beta versions, documentation lags.
The one and only documentation that is online is here: http://www.freestylersupport.com/wiki/sound_2_light
Credits go to LJ_Krede and maybe others for that.
I believe that wiki page should provide you all the info needed. If you think something is missing, try working it out via this forum and add the new info to the wiki page. So if you are still missing some point somewhere, feel free to ask. But please try to go through the wiki page first.
Its not that hard.

Edit:
Forgot to write about your 1.0.0.8 / 1.0.0.9 problem: there is nothing wrong with the download links. So you should re-re-re-recheck where you download to and where you install to.
