A good unit like enttec pro, or dmxking micro or pro with the ftdi chip in is there for exactly that reason.. The chip does the timings, not the laptop..
The only reason you would need a powerful PC is for 3d easyview visualiser if you wanted to see what your show looks like without actually setting up your real lights.

I recommend below ArtNet to DMX interface and give up all the USB to DMX dongles.

Enttec Open DMX appears to be the winner in the vote but there is also a thread about these units crashing freestyler.
I'm looking at buying an enttec open

which thread? bugs don't exist and therefore get fixed if they are NOT reported to the bug tracker...

This has been a long term issue, caused by the enttec open requiring a reboot of Freetyler to pick it back up again.
I posted a mod to fix the enttec by adding capacitors to the output many years ago, but its listed here on the forum somewhere.
