sound to light in Cue

Hi all!
I want to use freestyler to control my lights, but I'm having some problems.
I tried freestyler 2.96j first, but I couldn't get the sound to light thing to work. It just didn't do anything. I could see the bar moving, so there was sound, but none of my lights did anything. (tested on 2 pc's)
Then I found 2.99c and that version does work! When I use the sound to light and select the LED pars they change color like they should. (had to make my own fixture, but it works)
Now I want to be able to enable/disable the sound to light during the show. I was looking at the cue list and found a button "react to sound" next to each sequence.
When I leave the 'sound to light' on @ the fixtures, it keeps on flashing all the time.
When I disable the sound to light and enable the react to light in the cue list, it doesn't do anything.
I just want to be able to play a sequence, stop or wait for a bit, let the lights react on sound, play another sequence, ....
Am I doing something wrong, or is that not possible?
(can some1 maybe send me an older version so I can test it?)
