Hey Mat
I have downloaded the new app and it worked great the first time i tried it. Now it wont connect.
i have restarted both the pc and the tablet and nothing. When i input the ip address manually it still does not connect. Anything else i can try? Let me know if you need anyone to beta test the pro version. Also i don't control freestyler with the cues but i do use the cuelist buttons. any chance of options to change what the app controls?

Strange, if it does not connect via IP address i would suggest that FS is not reachable. Firewall, Wifi off?
The developers console is showing no crash reports. what screen / error messages if any?

The software supports overrides and individual cues. I will look into the tcp/ip documentation to add cuelist buttons to the pro version.

Hi Matt
I tried the app again and noticed that the externally controlled icon in freestyler does come on when i tried to connect. When i click on it and say disconnect all, then restart the app it does connect perfectly. Not sure if the issue is on the server side? Have got a gigs this weekend an will test. Otherwise awesome work will definitely purchase the full pro version.

Ahh yes. I have had this myself. The same problem exists with the ios app. I believe this to be server side as it only has one socket and doesn't allow reconnection.

By design the app is to maintain the connection whilst paused (home) button this is to allow you to read a text take a call etc. Back button disconnects and closes. I can add a disconnect button if this isn't easy to find by users.
Also it appears that fs doesn't disconnect properly so the apo thinks its connected untill it fails to send information to fs. Then it will show as disconnected. How often is the app failing to connect? Is this after closing fs without exiting the app by the back button? I have some updated code to addresses some reconnection errors. Unfortunately nothing to reset Fs connection or detect if the connection was not closed properly.

Hello,

Just tried it with an Archos tablet, connects and works fine. But... in 95% of the places where I could use this, I'll have no wifi access/router... so what?..

Thanks.

You could either buy a cheap cable router and take that with you to create a wifi access point.
Alternatively create a adhoc network in windows, if your computer doesn't have wifi you can get a cheap usb dongle too

The cable router will be the simplest option.

Freestyler doesn't support Bluetooth so unable to use that.
You can use adHock wifi to doaway with the router.

I love the idea! but I can not control any of the lights.

I can log in to Freestyler just fine but I can not control anything.
In the "fixture Control" no fixture's show up just "Lamp" and "PanTilt"
none of my override buttons or cues show up

Is there something that I am missing with this app? "I can control Freestyler in another app"

Whats the other app?

Ensure you have latest beta from this forum, Fixtures are currently just groups so make sure you have them created. FS creates these automatically when you add fixtures.

Also only "lamp" and PanTilt? Iv double checked but my app doesnt have any reference to "Lamp"

Unless you have downloaded this Freestyler DMX Remote ALPHA 2.5.1 which is wayyyyyyy old, and removed from the playstore.

I went ahead and paid for Android Remote Pro and I have to say it has everything I need! I am using it for my DIY landscaping LED's and my DIY home entertainment room LED's.

Next up I would like to build a switcher that I could use to switch from Freestyler "computer" for holiday use to a DIY touch screen wall controller for everyday use. Or maybe have the wall controller link to freestyler!!
