Midi causing crashes

Hi all, I've posted this in the external control as well but I've had no responses and this is now causing me big problems... 
I've purchased an FCB1010 to control Freestyler from. I have plugged it in with a midi to USB adapter and have adapted both Freestyler (to look out for velocity of 100) (FCB to send out Midi notes). I started up FS and assigned an override button to one of the presets on the FCB and checked it... It worked! Then I assigned another override button to the second preset on the FCB, then when pressed FS froze on me and I could no longer do anything without restarting! I can not get passed this now and now FS seems to freeze on startup until I unplug the FCB! (which is obviously causing me problems as FS won't recognise the Midi control after startup!) I am starting to lose all patience as I can't figure what is causing these problems, has anyone else encountered them? What can I do to get all this midi control sorted.. Would be very appreciative if anyone has done this kind of control and can help me out a little.
