A single spot light attached to a dimmer pack (or build in dimmerpack), are the easiest things. They use 1 DMX channel.
Just select in the fixtures list the PAR64 category and insert the 1 PAR64 L (or R, does not matter), make sure you assign the right DMX address and it will work, even when your fixture is not a PAR 64 fixture. DMX dimmers all work the same: 1 DMX channel. (0=off....255=full)
The same goes for the can lights. Say you have 4, you can add 4 of the 1 PAR64 fixtures, or just 1 of the 4 PAR64 fixture.
Ofcourse, when you want, you can also select the PARCAN category and locate PAR_BLUE for you blue lights, and PAR_RED for you red lights... And so on.
And when you have it all up and running, make a backup.

Not meaning to be rude but perhaps you need to learn the very basics about lighting before moving onto lighting control.
Just from reading your post it seems that your general knowledge of lighting is quite low.
A good place to start would be the dmx wiki.

I know I don't know much about it. I am just trying to get this thing back up an running. we are useing the old slide controler but it is not smooth. I have put the pdf file up here . I hope it works . I was also looking in the fixture set up were it says add and remove fixtures under the set up tab and I did not see any par lights . Also what is not on the the up loaded file is the can lights in the ceiling. They are running on 6ch's they are all hooked in to a dimmer box.

I'm amazed; There is no PAR 64 category in the fixtures list?
Like you see here:
fs_par64.png
Something must be wrong with the FreeStyler installation. Please remove and reinstall.

Definately something wrong with the FreeStyler installation...
And also not the right fixture file for you to use.
When reinstalling, at some point there are some options. Make sure to set "Overwrite all fixture profiles" and "Reset all settings to default" ON!
Also keep in mind that, ofcourse, you need to configure your FreeStyler from scratch.
Please consider the earlier advice to get some basic knowledge about DMx control and how it works. Makes life
a lot easier.

I tryed reloading it and got the same thing . There is no par light's in add fixtures. I might have see it when I was creating a fixture. I went to save it and I saw what you are saying but it is not there when I try to pull it up under add and remove fixtures. I think you are running a different version. will keep hunting are around to see if I can find it.

Onge and I are running beta versions, BUT the PAR 64 (and PARCAN) category exists for a long long time.
I even remember using them in the 2.96j version, as I had very big problems with my Velleman DMX interface - which I would not forget fast as I put a lot of work and effort in it to solve that.
So, de PAR 64 _should_ be there, but it is not, for some stupid reason. You only see the fixtures in the fixture creator?
Thats weird. The fixture profiles are in some path (can't check now, using my wife's laptop which has no FreeStyler installation at the moment), maybe FreeStyler and Fixture creator are installed in different directories for some stupid reason?

No its not, I'm running Vista as well. Don't miss any fixtures.
Strange though, that you are missing fixtures...
