This is my first post here. I created a Big Dipper / Seven Stars K800 profile after debugging it a little.
The manual that came with mine (ebay purchase) was close but incorrect in its explanation of the channel functions. You will see my interpretation in the pff file but here's a few notes:
- Ch1 is per manual, 0-69 shuts it off, 70-139 is music mode, 140-209 is auto mode, 210-255 is manual/DMX mode
Ch2 does nothing
Ch3 does what my manual says Ch2 does: set the pattern. It seems to have 128 patterns but my pff file has all 256 possible in case you find there are differences. 0-33 are static and 34-255 are dynamic. I went through them and picked bmp's from the existing gobo folder that give an indication of what the laser will do.
The remaining channels only seem to control the static patterns.......
- Ch4 is "strobe" which alternates between the pattern and dots (laser positions frozen) in a few steps of speed. I set it up as off/slow/medium/fast strobe.
Ch 5 and Ch 7 are pan and tilt, sort of. Between values of 64 and 127, they seem to control up/down/left/right. At 0 it is stable in a centre position, and between 1 and 63 it moves but jumps around a lot. For other values it does unpredictable and sometimes kind of cool things. This does not obey the ranges in my paper manual.
Ch6 and 8 do nothing that I can tell.
Ch9 zooms per manual I think. 0-2=original size, 3-92=zoom, above that runs automatic zoom loops making the pattern bigger and smaller.
Well that is my somewhat trivial contribution to the Freestyler community. I hope it is useful to someone out there. Having played with the K800 for a while it seems like a toy; the patterns giggle because the mirrors are jerky, especially the vertical mirror. But it probably suits my purposes OK and now that I have some form of control, can probably get some basic use as a DJ effect.
