FreeStyler X2 and uDMX - Setting up second universe

Some days ago Lutz from http://www.illutzminator.de sent me and e-mail with an improvement in uDMXArtnet for making it work with two dongles in the same computer, even when they have the same serial. I copy the Lutz message:

I built a new solution: uDMXArtnet got a new parameter -n <number of device>

So with
uDMXArtnet -n 1
you use the first available uDMX and with
uDMXArtnet -n 2
you use the second one.

Using serial number is more secure as unplugging and plugging again will always definitely find the same device, but in most cases

uDMXArtnet -n <number of device>

should also work as long as you always use the same usb-ports.

This is only implemented in uDMXArtnet not in uDMXCapture.

OK, the other solution is with FTDI chip. Here is described how it works. The only obstacle here is to find genuine FTDI chip. The boards with clones work as USB to RS485 converters, but cannot be programmed and that's why are not suitable for DMX.

I have to find what is the difference between uDMX and openDMX......and why do I need uDMX, when the both cables work with FreeStyler?

uDMX, openDMX and so are not standards, just different drivers associated to each USB to DMX interface. I've reading your previous posts and it's not clear what do you need exactly of what is the problem you're facing. Most dongles work great with FreeStyler.

So, you can not configure your "supposely" uDMX dongle with FreeStyler right now and make it work? If it works with FreeStyler, why do you want change the firmware?
