Adding new fixtures/ affect sequences?

Post by plan_G »

Hi all,
Well, 3 shows under my belt so far. The last two went pretty smooth considering all things. I'll be ordering two more of the same LED lamps I have now, and I can't quite figure out how to add them without screwing up all the sequences in my cue list. I see there is a 'clone' feature but I don't want to limit myself to always having them paired with something else. If I add the 2 new lamps to GROUPS will the sequences that use groups pick them up? Most of my other sequences are done with all the lights (slow fades, snaps, etc), so I'm not using groups, just selecting 'all'. I'm excited about adding to things, but changing what works - notsomuch :(

Thanks in advance!

p.s. should I leave the addresses on the other 4 lights alone, even though I'll be interspersing these new lights with the others?

:)

can anybody give me some direction on this? My new lights will be arriving soon, but the next show is Friday. I currently have 2 lights on each tree, X-|-X X-|-X and I plan to add the extra lights to the inside of the centers -- X-|XX XX|-X to light the singers better. Will I have to rewrite my sequences?

A sequence file contains DMX values for all recorded Channels, steps, fade/step time, fade/snap and other things i can't remember. but they do not contain info about fixture groups. that is only for when you program so you easily can select multiple fixtures. so adding new fixtures to groups wont effect your sequences at all.

changing DMX addresses for you fixtures in FS wont change the DMX channel output when you run sequences for these fixtures caused by the already method fs uses to record sequences: the DMX values for the selected channels. in theory you can remove all fixtures in FS after making sequences, ad your sequences will still work as they should. if you want other DMX adresses but still use the old sequences you have to use the patch feature in the Freestyler setup

you have to make new sequences and/or add the new fixtures your current sequences. you do this by opening your sequences in the sequences creator and tell them what to do for each step.

you can also use the clone feature you already mentioned yourself.
