Help with Fixture repsonse on 3d Visualizer

Post by Kosh »

I have been using a DMX hardware controller for lighting and have been thinking about going PC based.

I installed FreeStyler 3.3.2 w/ the sunlite visualizer and drivers
Added a Fixture in Freestyler, then hit "3D"
Created a new Stage and Added the Fixture

When i turn on the fixture lamp and change color / gobo etc. the visualizer does not respond.

At the bottom of the visualizer it says " controlled by Freestyler ECO MODE DMX on"

Must I have a USB to DMX Interface attached for it to work ?

Hey Kosh,

be sure to set the FS to "Virtual Interafce". And have a look at the mapping of the channels both in FS and Magic3D to feed the same function. Remember when you got scanners or MHs it could be nessecary to start the lamp AND turn up the lamp dimmer level.

Save your Magic3D work and try to restart th programs. Start over with FS first, afterwards hit the 3D button inside FS and here you (should) go.

Cheers,

Henry

I believe that the fixture file in freestyler did not match the fixture file in 3d viewer, I tired other fixtures yesterday, but i didnt have it set at "virtual fixture" when i was trying new fixtures.

I have since tried a a different fixture with virtual fixture turned on and it works.
So I will need to create a fixture file for the american dj DJ SCAN 250ex and Vizi LED Spot unless they are already on the forum and I have over looked them

I just wanted to test it all out before i bought a USB to DMX, after about 10 minutes use, it would be hard to go wrong with a budget Enttec open DMX + Freestyler

I have used Sunlite Suite and I prefer Freestyler already :fs:

thanks for the help !
