How to upgrade Freestyler without reinventing the wheel?

I have a laptop that is running 2.95f. My band has started to use a second laptop to DJ the breaks between sets, and I figured I'd just throw Freestyler on there and use one computer for everything, leaving the other as a backup.
I was surprised to learn the hard way (after installing) that upgrading to the latest version would cause me to recreate my settings and the backup files wouldn't restore properly. I only have Chauvet LED Rain 56's and Colorstrips, but having to rewrite things to maintain the status quo seems unreasonable.
Is there any way to upgrade older versions to the most recent so that I don't have to recreate my locations?

not as far as I'm aware I'd just go for it AND MAKE new ones as you'll usually find you make them just that one bit better than before!

Version 3 had a whole new redesign of how sequences will be handled.
Unless nothing else major changes sequences created in this version will work for future releases.
Anything previous will not.

Why not provide a convert utility from old to new ?
This would take away a lot of work for FS users.
What exactly is incompatible ?
I'm eager to use the new version but the incompatibility keeps me from doing it.

Hi
Normally you can open your old sequences in the "create sequence" window and save/convert it to the new file format.
Best regards
