adjusting scanner speed?

It seems simple but I can't change the speed of my martin scx500's when they move around unless I use the templates to move circles or 8's. Is there a simple way to change the speed they move left/right/up/down?

Yep, you can. With the factory-settings a SCX500 runs in 6 channel mode. By switching to 8 channel mode you get 2 channels to adjust the mirror speed (channel 7) and the gobo- and colorwheel (channel 8). Switching to 8 channel mode is described in the manual: While switched on, press the "Mode"-button and keep it pressed. After 5 seconds the display will blink. That's the controlmenu. Keeping the "Mode"-button pressed, press the "x100"-button repeatedly until "I" appears on the left of the display. If the display blinks "I I" the scanner is in 8 channel mode. if it blinks "1 2" it's in 6 channel mode. Keeping the "Mode"-button pressed, you can toggle between 6 and 8 channel mode by pressing the "x1"-button. When you release the "Mode"-button it saves your settings the way they are when you release it.
You have to add these 2 channels to your fixturefile to benefit the changes. I have no reference cause I've made the fixturefiles for someone else, but as far as I know, choosing the lowest value will make the movements fast. You have to experiment with these values. I found that if you set them to the highest speed, the movements are not smooth anymore but will become "square".
