Fade off for an RGB fixture

I'd like to set a scene where on the press of a button (touch interface for instance) the RGB fixture goes to full intensity for say red and then fades to off.

Simply switching on/off doesn't have the same effect hence the idea of a "fade off effect".

The only remote function for this I can see is the FX in the sequence editor. Trouble I can see with that is the time it takes for the fade off as the FX function essentially creates a number for steps to achieve fade and with a quick beat would be too slow.

How do you guys do this?

You can probably tell that I'm new to FS :)

You just need to create a 2 step sequence.
Step 1 Set red to 255 and dimmer to 255 (if you have a dimmer channel) Channel yellow for snap, set other channels to off and yellow
Step 2 set red dimmer to zero set 3000 for scene and fade time (3 seconds) then click that channel to green for fade
The light will turn full red then fade out over 3 seconds(change fade time if you like)
You must run this in the cue window or a submaster but cannot be run on an override.
