Fog/Haze for 5 seconds - How

Would like to create a sequence that will produce fog/haze for 5 seconds, then assign to a midi note for activation via footswitch.
What I can't figure out is how to get my hazer to programmed into the sequence. The fog button (both on and timer) work fine but would really like to be able to manually trigger a 5 second burst of haze.
Appreciate the help.

i can't think of a way for you to get a 5 second burst, but what you could do i create a sequence that fires the fog, assign it to a flash button and assign a midi note.
The machine will fire for as long as you have your foot down.

You can create a sequence that has several steps and different scene times to make the lights do what ever. Just add a step (+) that has a scene time of 5 seconds, fade time of 500 and set the fog/hazer to the flow that you want for those 5 seconds (ex. 255 max flow). When you play the sequence (>> test sequence) the lights will continue to do their thing and the fog/hazer will just shoot that burst your looking for when the sequence gets to that 5 second step. Only thing to remember is that if you have that sequence open and you step through the scenes (> next scene) or freeze that step, the fog/hazer will just continue to blow until you switch the scene.

Well I edited a sequence last night and put 255 in the grid on the channel my hazer was on for each step. Didn't trigger the haze. What did I do wrong?

What kind of hazer? How many channels? My Chauvet Hz-1000 has 2 channels. #1 for haze output and #2 for the blower. When I wanted the 5 second burst like you are looking for, I would set both channels of the Hz-1000 to 255. If you open the DMX Output window (Edit, Show Output), can you see the value that is being sent to the hazer? Is your hazer addressed correctly in Freestyler and on the Hazer's dip switches?

Antari HZ-300. It works with the fog buttons just trying to get it to fire off using a sequence. I'll play with it again tomorrow, got a gig tonight.
1 channel BTW.

Still having a bit of trouble. The fog button works fine but can't seem to create a sequence that will trigger the haze. The menu that appears from the right side doesn't trigger the haze either.
Any thoughts?

please upload your fixture file to this thread.
Does the show output tool show the fog machine being triggered or is this an output problem.
Iv tested a few of the inbuilt machines and seem to be working although i havn't used an actual machine iv just simulated in easyview.

Matt-
Thanks. The right sliders work fine with my P64 LED Pro's but not with the hazer. The output window is showing the same number as the slider when I move the right hand slider.

So I thought maybe I coded the fixture wrong. But the only way to get the hazer to work with the fog button is to put the channel number (128) in my case in the fog channel. Should be 1 shouldn't it for a 1 channel hazer?
Tried the z-1500 fixture file but it did not work either - although the little box that says Fog Off/On is pretty cool.

Lettting everyone know I've solved this problem. By setting the hazer on channel 1 it now works perfectly. Not sure why it needed to be on channel 1 but hey it works.
