Smoke machine tripping out the entec pro interface

Hi

I did my first 'proper' show at the weekend and encountered an unusual problem:

When I manually triggered my smoke machine, sometimes the dmx signal would fail. This happened about 5 times in all, but not every time I used the smoke machine (if that makes sense). It was only cured by shutting down freestyler, unplugging the interface from the laptop, replugging then restarting freestyler.

Any help appreciated

DMX cables are van damm and the line is terminated. Was only running 2 scans, 1 barrel, a switchbox and a dmx laser. The smoke machine was up on the gantry. It is an entry level soundlab with a manual remote trigger.

sounds like electrical interference is affecting your dmx line i'd probably move the smoke machine cables away from your dmx cables,
another manual trigger smoke machine I used at yates had probably the same problem but it effected the pubs speakers rather than dmx every time you shot smoke out it would make a bang or noise that would only sound when you turned it off and then turned it on.

Putting a capacitor in parallel across the switch should stop the popping.
