Use ART X-11 Master Controller to change sequences

Newbie to midi.
Freestuyler dmx version 3.6.37
Midi-ox version 7.0.2.372 with Midi-yoke NT 1.75
Want to control sequences using ART X-11 foot controller.
5 buttons per bank
I see midi communication on midi-ox monitor.
The FS forum and wiki forum have a different external midi setup from the new version. 3.6.37 has a learn button, but no idea how to make it work. My understanding would be that I highlight command to use and press learn button then press footpedal button to let FS know the midi message to use. Does not seem to work. Tried inputing values to from Midi-ox monitor to see if the footpedal would work. No again.
Don't understand midi that well. Need help with setup, and routing for the new versions.
PLEASE HELP. GOT A SHOW IN 3 WEEKS AND WOULD LIKE TO USE FS TO CONTROLL LIGHT SHOW.
