Bezier Shape - Not Smooth

Hey Guys,

Trying to program some Moving heads, they're Acem Fusion Spots, and they move very fast.

The issue I'm having when programming via Bezier shape is the movement isn't smooth. It jerking between the points. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thanks

A few things you can check is.
1st. Plug just one fixture directly to your interface and test to eliminate interference/cabling issues. If it then works smoothly it would suggest cables.

2nd. Check speed channel value for light, depending on which mode (9ch, 16ch, etc) there is usually a 'pan/tilt speed' slider that can tell fixture to move faster or slower. Have a play with different values, though usually I find leaving on the fastest possible setting to be as close to real-time tracking as possible seems to work best for me on most lights I have used.

3rd. Check your interface is set to a decent refresh rate (eg 40Hz or better), and that your not using a 'basic' or 'open' interface which relies on your computer to generate every bit of the timings.
Eg enttec or dmxking pro interfaces have their own processor that fix timings nicely, whereas others like the 'enttec open', and cheap-o eBay USB-dmx adapters will likely have issues like you describe because they don't have this quite important little processor and have to rely on your computers latency and USB connection to do all the work.

Thanks I'll check these settings. Maybe I didn't explain my problem properly either.

The movement from point to point is smooth. The issue is it seems to stop at each point fractionally before moving.

Is like it hasn't completed a scene time before it moves to the next step, only there is no scene time as it made in bezier shape.

It depends on the exact shape you are trying to make, don't forget that any horizontal or vertical parts of the bezier shape in the box will mean moments of no pan, or no tilt movement.
You can also make sure your using the 'full control' version of your light profile, eg 10 channel profile instead of 8 to make sure the pan and tilt fine channels are also active and can keep the slow or precise movements going smoothly.

Failing that a small amount of adjustment to the speed channel like I mentioned before should help smooth it all out.

Yeah the lights are on 8ch and very fast so I thin that's the issue. Managed to get them working to how I want just a not 100% smoth.
