Enttec DMX USB Pro issue..

Hi, it's my first post in this forum

and I have a problem with Enttec DMS USB pro dongle.
The problem seems to be that the freestyler is not sending out any DMX signal.
I have successfully installed FTDI driver, and with a DMX testing software, the dongle responds just fine. (the testing software I mean for Enttec Pro manager).
HOWEVER, freestyler won't send out DMX signal no matter what I do. I've tried the following:
1. Changing the COM port (X) - the latest version of freestyler does not seem to have an option to select a particular COM port in the set up page. The best I could do was to change to different COM ports in device manager.
2. Re-Installing freestyler (X) - the dongle still does not blink.
Please help me through this issue, thanks in advance.
Regards,
Lezen

Hi Nathanrs93, thanks for your reply.
I downloaded the driver again using your link & restarted the computer as instructed, but the enttec pro still won't react to the FreeStyler software.
- As a side note, I tried running FreeStyler with a different laptop (as I thought it might be my laptop issue) but enttec pro still won't react to freestyler with the different laptop.

It's pretty straight forward really, I've got Enttec myself and had no issues getting it to work with fs

I have about 8 of them and have never had a problem getting them to work on any system.

Thanks for your reply.
So I guess it's the dongle that has the problem? I contacted the dealer about this issue and I'll receive another (working one this time, hopefully) Enttec pro.
I'll post a reply when I receive it.
Thanks for your help

Quick update on the issue:
- Enttec pro (the same device, not a new one received from the dealer) finally responds to the freestyler, but to have it working, it requires additional steps.
- Steps that made it working: (1) Start the Enttec Pro Manager and test for DMX Send test (2) Make sure Enttec Pro's LED blinks (3) Close the Pro Manager and Start FreeStyler (4) Magically, responding to FS..!
- Make sure to download d2xx driver, not vcom driver.

*** BUT I still have an issue.. ***
- I have a problem with the control in freestyler. My light fixture's reaction to Freestyler is somewhat bumpy.
- When I gently push up the dimmer from 0 to 255, the light smoothly dims up from 0 to 125, but it won't respond for output between 126 and 254. But at maximum level 255, it suddenly 'Clicks' and gives a full output. So the fixture won't react at all for the output level between 126 to 254.
Plese help..

That would be a problem with the fixture itself not freestyler. Many LED lights do not dim smoothly from 0-255 most are almost at full brightness at 125

Hi Partyman.
I don't think it's the problem with the fixture really, because it's fading smoothly with Enttec pro utility, or Enttec Pro Manager. Besides, it seems that not only the dimmer has the above 'clicking' issue, but also other channels (e.g. red, green, blue, strobe etc).
Here's what is happening between the freestyler output and the actual output.
Channel value (DMX 0~255)................Actual output value
0~125...............................................0~50%
126~254............................................40%
255..................................................100%
So only at channel values (0~125) and (255), the fixture does what it's meant to do.
In values inbetween (126~254), the fixture only outputs 40% no matter what I say.
I hope this can be resolved in some time soon, because the deadline for the show is coming closer..
Thanks again for your reply.
Regards
Lezen.

Hej Lezen
Just a small comment.
If you open the output monitor then you can see what DMX value FreeStyler is sending.
Output -> Show output.
I know you can't see what is happening in the DMX dongle but you can check if FS is doing it right.

Thanks for all of you who helped me out in this thread! Your advices helped me out greatly and now I'm over with this issue.
I'm no longer using Enttec Pro for my show - there is nothing wrong with the dongle itself, but it seems to me that somewhere in my installation process I make a driver issue. (For a more detailed story, please read the post
http://www.freestylersupport.com/bugs/view.php?id=1290)
I'm now using a standard uDMX dongle (which charged me about 20 euros in total) and magically it works fine for now. So, for those of you readers who may have encountered a similar issue as mine, my advice would be to test out your driver with a cheap, alternative USB DMX device that you can easily find online.
Thanks a lot for your help and advices!
