enttec open dmx usb help

Hi, when I plug the usb lead thats connected to enttec open into my computer the mouse pointer starts going crazy and moving all around my screen. Im using windows xp, can anyone help please.

Have you installed the driver? (Link on this page

Is it configured to an unused comport? (Visible under device manager - ports (com & lpt), as 'usb serial port' with a port number not matching any other ports in use)

If I plug USB in and then plug light in it doesn't happen.
I get the open failed error when opening freestyle now.
I have downloaded the drivers and reinstalled them a few times.
How do I find out what ports are active?
