Freestyler DMX Remote - Bluetooth

The Bluetooth App requires the BluetoothServer application to be running in the background on your Freestyler PC.

Download the server from http://www.fsremote.co.uk/bt.zip

The server has been tested both with external usb Bluetooth dongles and internal laptop Bluetooth hardware on XP 7 and 8.

gives full access to the comon controls within freestyler including:

• Sequence Control

• Cue Lists

• SubMasters

• Overrides

• Master Intensity and Fog Controls

• Live fixture control

• Pan/Tilt

• Colour and Gobo Selection

• Terminal input,useful for focus and aiming jobs

• DMX Faders, control DMX channels directly from faders

Have the new freestyler.exe, bluetooth, and dll file in the freestyler program folder.

I open freestyler and then start bt server. This shows remote device icon top right of freestyler.

Tablet is paired with computer, I start bluetooth control on tablet it says connected, but does nothing.

Any ideas?

Same thing on galaxy s3 cell phone too.

do you see any cue names /override names in the app?
if you open the bluetooth server from the system tray, do you see any commands being sent from the app?
It should at the very least say client connected.

For the app to say it is connected it must receive a confirmation message from the server, so im fairly confident that your phone/tab is connected to the server.

I get:
Server started, waiting for clients

Tablet says connected. Then goes back to paired devices scan page.

which version of windows are you using,iv had a few pairing issues with 7 / 8 if not done a certain way.
i found it best to unpair the devices then pair using androids settings->bluetooth rather than letting the app control the pairing.
Windows will prompt that a new device is attempting to pair, you must allow this and windows will setupthe paired device.

You could also check that bluetooth is working between your phone -> laptop by trying to send a file or photo between them.

There may also be a possibility that your bluetooth dongle is not supported by the server, somay want to try a different dongle/brand.

It's paired and will do file transfer. The bluetooth is built in with intel 6230 Wireless/bluetooth. It just won't see the server. I thought maybe I needed to setup a comport, but I haven't figured out if thats the case or how to do it yet.

Do you see the Connection Problem Dialogue? If not then the app is successfully connecting but then disconnecting?

Can you install an app called Bluetooth Terminal, send any random mesage and its should appear in the servers message box.

Can you try running the server on another bluetooth enabled pc?

I have a feeling its the bluetooth drivers used by the server that are not supported.

couldn't get this to work and just found the information saying you have to download a server file onto the computer running freestyler. I clicked on your link to download the server but it won't download. Just says waiting for server. Is your server down?

Ok I found the Freestyler Bluetooth server files on another site and installed them. Opened Freestyler on my computer and then clicked the server exe file as it said in the instructions. Got a pop up message saying the server was running in the background. Then I tried both my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 and my Samsung Galaxy note 3 smart phone by pairing and connecting to the PC running Freestyler and the server. The app opened up but again when I click on cues or fixture, I see nothing on the remote devices. I see all the controls but not my fixtures or cues that are on the PC. I'm running Windows 8.1 on the PC. Am I doing something wrong or is there an issue with Windows 8.1?

Are you running the x2 version of freestyler?
Is freestyler added to the windows firewall?

Yes running X2 version 3.5.8. As far as the firewall, not sure. How do I access/check?

Is there still a Bluetooth specific app?

I could find nothing on the Google play store, and the link in the first post is not available any more.

I downloaded the only Freestyler Remote app on Google play, but it only asks for Wi-fi. Since Wi-Fi is not connected, the app won't continue.

I'd like to try to connect on Bluetooth.

Am I doing something wrong?
