Will pay for help getting lights & freestyler up & running

I have just bought some DMX lighting & USB to DMX & have kind of gotton my showtec led 56 short par cans working.
But I'm having heck of a time trying to get to grips in Freestyler & DMX settings in general.

For example, all of my par cans, when all dipswitched to 1 all do the same. But when I change each Dip Switch to what is show in Freestyler different weird things happen.

I'm trying to get control over each light so I can control it's colour. I also have 5 other DMX lights I would like to get into the mix. So far I'm not making a lot of sense of freestyler and I have read up on the tutorials on this site but none of them are specific enough :-)

So would anyone be based around Sussex, UK who could either visit me or maybe someone who can skype or team viewer into my system & help set me up.
Happy to pay for help, £15 per hour plus any travel sound fair?

I would be more than happy to assist in any way I can but I doubt you want to fly me across the pond to help. If you are having DMX addressing issues, there are tutorials all over the www to assist with that. If there are fixture issues then you are gonna have to do a little work on that.
Many of us here can help with a lot of things but you have to have all fixtures addressed and responding correctly before we can assist with programming.
If you have the dongle connected and you can get the par can on address 1 to do as it is supposed to then the problem is with your addressing the next fixtures (insuring weird behavior). Add 1 fixture at a time until they each work correctly. If you mess up the addressing on 1 light it can throw everything off. Remember many fixtures have more than 1 dmx mode.

Hi Rusty

Thanks for the offer of help.

I really am quite confused. I have 8 LED-PAR56, set as 2 groups of 4.
They react to the light option changing coloyurs etc but I can't control any of the lights individually. They just all react.
Address is what freestyler set up.
1: 1 - 16 for the first one
1: 2 - 12 for the 2nd
1: 13 - 18 for the 3rd
1: 19 - 24 for the 4th

I have the dip switches on the cans set to the images provided within freestyler?

I also just added a 6 channel LED light ball but this didn't do anything :-(

I know there are a load of tutorials but none of the ones I have found have managed to help me with what I need?

Your addressing is definitely the problem. You will do best to address each fixture as its own address then program them however you like. How many channels are the par cans? I will use 6 channel as a demo so you can understand.

1st LED = Channel 1-6
2ndLED = Channel 7-12
3rdLED = Channel 13-18
4thLED = Channel 19-24
....

Make sure the Lightball gets its own address also. You address up to 512
If any of the fixtures overlap channels then you will have problems. Once you have control of each fixture individually then we can move on to programming.

Thanks Rusty.

OK, from scratch.

1st Led = Channel 1 - 6. Dipswitch 1 On

Using freestyler I have control of this light & it does what I want colour wise.
Add light 2.

2nd Led = Channel 7 - 12. Dipswitch 123 On

If I select this light it does what I want colour wise, but then if I select the first light, whatever colors I do work correctly but also change the colours of the 2nd light & also don't change the colour to what the colour is on light 1?

Confused?

make sure you deselect the first light before you adjust the second light. It sounds like you are just grabbing the second light to make changes without deselecting the first light.

Also make sure your dip switches are set correctly. There are apps for this.

Yes that's what I was doing wrong. Doh.

That's kinda the par cans sorted. Now I've just added a Fun Factor LED 5.
It's one of those with digital dip switches & I have no idea how to turn on 1, 5 & 6 in digital form.
At the moment it's plugged in, on DMX mode 0 & njothing happening.

Below is the manuel, any idea how to get this one going?

Steve, Just use use the up/down arrows to adjust to the desired channel that Freestyler gives. If light is on channel 7 then change the number on the fixture to 7.

Confused.com :?
Freestyler
Address: 1:49-56 - Fun Factor Led-9
Dipswitches images show 1, 5 & 6 On.

So should I put the digital numbers on the actual light to 49?

Brilliant, have control of my par cans, my led balls & my Fun Factor. Just 2 more lights to add.
Any ideas what to add these under as they seem to have no model name or anything?

All you can do is create a 8 channel Fixture with fixture creator. Leave it VERY basic, no color, gobo, lamp,... channels (make sure you name, and remember the name). Open Freestyler add the new fixture (make sure fixture is addressed) then use the channels to figure out what each channel does, write that info down, then edit the fixture file to match.

Can you elaborate on this please?

1. I've clicked Custom in the Fixture Creator & am met with an abundance of info to fill in to which I don't have a clue???

Also re the sound to light feature, I have found that this is very poor compared to the built in sound to light that comes with my actual par cans?

Again if anyone could team viewer into me I'd be happy to pay for set up?

Steve,
Please list your current fixtures and how many of each fixture. Also list how many channels each fixture uses

Hi, does the screenshot explain what you need.

Everything is controllable at this point, just the two lights with no names I need to add to the system.

Think I'll be ok, but thanks for the offer of teamviewering to me.
Still need to get the DMX lights here added as no idea what to do in the fixture creator???
Are there any decent tutorials on this?
