Another question related to a fresh install on a second laptop

When I open 3d visualiser in freestyler on the new laptop, its not showing any of the lights operating when a cue is selected.

I can see that that they are operating, but nothing is happening on the visualiser at all as though freestyler is not sending any information to the 3d visualiser.

The fixtures are all the correct dmx addresses (this was a straight back up copy from my main PC that works fine and has been operating everything ok)

Any suggestions as to what this may be ??

Did you have a look to see if there was any output from freestyler?

Also make sure that when you imported the backup onto the new laptop that the output device selected was the virtual interface.

Freestyler is showing that DMX action is going on, and you certainly see the icons indicating action is ongoing on the freestlyer screen (colours changing intensity figures changing etc...)

And yes, it is set to the virtual interface.

Check the settings on the 3D Visualiser as Nathan93 suggested.
Under the Standard tab select the Universe Patch icon. Make sure Freestyler is selected and Universe 1.
Save then restart the visualiser.
You can check to see if any DMX signal is being received by the visualiser by going to Standard tab select the DMX Levels Icon.

Oh yes, good point. If the fixtures are patched to anything but universe 1 when using virtual interface on Freestyler, it will not pick it up and show it on 3D view. I don't know how it works for art-net though, so don't ask me.

OK, things are a little different on the working and non working laptop

On the working laptop, when I open 3d visualiser standard bar, the 'Universe Patch' icon is greyed out, when I click on the DMX level icon it shows everything working on universe 1, and you see everything running fine

On the new laptop with the problem, I can select the Universe patch button, but all I appear to be able to change is the click options for 'Auto-select' and 'show this dialogue at start up'

All 4 of the lines to the left showing 'DMX univers 1 -4) have noting in them and I cant select any pull down arrows on it.....

Any more ideas.....

Could you post some screen shots of what's happening with each laptop? It's just hard to visual when your trying to explain something over a computer screen

Ok first screen shot is my working PC running Vista

You can see on the 3d screen that the universe patch is greyed out and DMX is on and green in the btm right of the window and all works correctly

This is the new laptop

You can see that the 3d window universe patch button is selectable, DMX is off and red

If I click on the universe patch it opens up the window, but it will not allow me to select any pull down tabs for any of the universes and all I can change on this window is the 'auto selection' and 'show this dialogue on start up'

Have you got the BETA version of 3D view? If you have, did you copy the files correctly? Have you read this: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=5579

If you've done that then it should be working, if not reply again and I'll have another look. It seems there from the last picture that you've not installed something correctly or at all, because there should be a freestyler selection in the middle like this:

I just downloaded the latest version of freestyler and it downloaded the 3d visualiser as part of the installation....
