Layers

Hey
I just wanted to ask a question in applying so called "layers" to certain parts of a sequence. I'm doing a lighting show for an event and I've got to do it to certain songs, but I've choose to control it live and go with the vibe. I want to apply colours/gobos throughout but quickly take them off, is it just as easy to do it with OR (overrides) like I've done before or is there any easier way?
I don't want to record it in the sequence just in case I program it wrong. I've got a feeling most people will agree and say use OR because it seems the simplest, but I just want to make sure as I'm open to opinions.
Cheers

i use the OR for this...
ist the most easyest way, you can also put the differnt atributes on a Cuelist and load it on the submasters...
but i like the Button Style from the OR...just 180 button easy to acces..

I did think about submasters but then I think thats getting a touch much to handle, plus it means I've lost a submaster in theory. I do think like you say OR for easy access as I can put them on KB shortcuts as well, which will be helpful in the long run too.

I use submasters to create my cue lists.
Then I use the override buttons to change the gobos or colour schemes. Quick and easy. Just remember there is no fade time on overrides. When you click on, they are straight on and click off straight off again. This means they aren't very subtle.
Also when you set gobos in your overrides try an make the override buttons for gobos 1 step apart. Scrolling through 6 gobos isn't very subtle either when the lamp is on.
Hope that helps. I use the Cue buttons all the time for our rig.

What do you mean by one step apart, Buttza? I don't understand what you mean? :/

The order the gobos are in. 1 step between each gobo.
Gobo Order example.
Open, Circle, Triangle, Square, Line.
Gobo Override:
Button 1 Open
Button 2 Circle
Button 3 Triangle
Button 4 Square
Button 5 Line
Etc.
If you go from Line straight to Open it is going to scroll through the others which is quite distracting when you are setting moods. When you do your Cues and your Gobo configs try to make the gobo changes small or minimal or create a Move in black Override.
I hope that cleared it up.

Oh right, I get you because I'm just applying it over like a "layer"

Nice one, buttza. Cheers
