Trouble with tap sync

Hi all,

Anyone have problems with the tap with scenes not triggering properly off the tap sync button?

I can set a tap sync to, say, 5 sec but the scenes will trigger at 6 sec. If I set a tap sync to 10 sec the scenes trigger at about 12 sec. So there seems to be a 20% offset or something. Maybe I've created my scenes badly, I'm not assuming it's a bug probably user error. The scenes are 4 tri-led parcans all switching colors in a sequence: red, green, blue. Nothing too complicated, but somehow the time I set with tap sync is being added to?

One thine to add is I'm running the latest Freestyler on a MacBook Pro running Windows emulated on VMware. The tap sync button is functioning properly, flashing perfectly at 5 sec intervals, 10 sec intervals, whatever I set it to. Just the scenes trigger with some kind of 20% offset.

Thanks in advance!

Hi folks,

It seems my issue is not with tap/sync but with the cue window. I've experimented not just on my MacBook but also on a little HP Netbook running Freestyler natively on windows.

If I create a really simple sequence, say 2 scenes for one fixture to control just its dimmer (one for on, one for off), and set the speed for 5 seconds it works perfectly when I run it from within the sequence editor.

However when I save it and drop it into the cue window it has a lag.....so that 5 second scene last for 6 seconds.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Thanks Spirit,

I appreciate a reply from a knowledgable moderator as yourself. If you can't think of something I've done outside the scene-making process (I'm a relative newbie, so I can imagine some setting I've messed up somewhere) I'll go ahead and submit a bug report. I've reproduced it on two platforms with the latest version, Freestyler 3.5.4 so lets see what the developers say....

I get a delay of something like 20% when dropping a simple sequence into the cue window. So a sequence with a global time of 5 sec plays perfectly in the sequence editor, but runs 6 sec in cue window. A 10 sec sequence runs for 12 sec.

Thanks!

i realy dont have a clue never lookt at it in detail.

as i allways use FS in live situation and Tap-Sync / Manual Tap ALLOT!!!
and all my Sequences are Scene time 1000 and Fade time 1000, and for led pars i also make Sequences with Scenetime1000 and Fadetime 500 because this can look nice.

but if you just created a Seq. and Played it back on the CUE it seems like a issue.

I have experienced this also but have not pursued a fix via the Tap Sync. Instead I just use the slider which seems to be more accurate...??

Thanks Spirit!

I tried opening a report myself but had problems logging in there.....I had myself added as a registered user but still can't seem to log in to create a ticket. Not a big deal now that you've done it for me....I appreciate the follow up!

I've tried the new version recently (been away from updates for a while) and looks good to me, on both a Mac running VMWare emulating Windows 7, and a netbook running Windows 7 too. I'm a happy camper - thanks!
