DMX Restrictor

Hi all.
I need to know if theres any way to restrict the number of dmx channels coming out of Freestyler? I need 255 to be exact, or lower. I have a DMX KING brand UltraDMX interface (works great). Using with some cheapy 4ch Moving head lights, which are incredibly non dmx compliant, and will keep bouncing between 0% and the set value, if I output any more then 255 channels from the lowest fixture.
If anyone knows how to restrict either from Freestyler or the DMXKing utility program (or any other way for that matter), that would be great. I don't know if theres a plugin in out there that would do it?
I have wasted a hell of a lot of time just getting the lights to this stage.
Thanks
-Josh

no i dont know any feature that can do this..
but there are some USB->DMX dongles that be set to 64, 128 ,192 dmx channels...
BUT! maby you can try to change the Refresh rate from the DMXking device...
Go to -> Setup -> Freestyler setup -> Interface setup -> select DMXking -> press Advanced button.
and change the Output refereshrate (Reboot Req): Default=50
Higher = Lower Refreshrate
Lower = Higher Refreshrate

Yeah I tried that. No luck. There is a setting in the DMXKing config program, but it isn't permanant. And I don't know why they offer the option for uDMX type, but not the Entec Pro option in Freestyler. Any out there that can make a plugin?
I'd hate to think ive wasted my money on this. And uDMX drivers don't generally work with my 64-bit Windows setup
Thanks

Yeah I did a few times. They say that its Freestyler that is the issue. Because their option to restrict channels is only for testing at this stage, not a 'gateway setting'.
As much as I hate to say it, I think I will have to just sell this one and get a cheapy udmx adaptor. I originally got one but had issues with drivers. I've since discovered it just plain doesn't work. The signal goes through (green light) but no response.
Thanks everyone

I don't understand how the udmx will make any difference?

I am not 100% sure of what I am saying here and I don't have the possibility to verify it at the moment.
I think that FreeStyler only transmit the number of channels that are configured.
Meaning if you have only added fixtures that covers up to address 20 then only the 20 channels will be in the frame and not 512.
When I measured the frame timing (Some time age) I recall to have a relative short frame as only had a few fixtures.
I need to measure this again to be 100% and it was on a Eurolite dongle.
This may also be different on the DMXking dongle.

Hej again.
I just got my last post cleared.
The Enttec and the DMX king sends a full frame meaning all 512 channels in each frame no matter if they are used or not.
Sorry for putting noise into the threat

Jan thats a bugger.
The guys at DMX King did say that now they know its an issue, maybe in future firmware releases it might make the output permanent. But for now, uDMX seems to be my only option, because in Freestyler when you select it, it actually gives you the option to output only 96, 256 or 512 channels. So I guess I just get another uDMX dongle. Any advice on good-cheap ones, if such a thing exists?
Thanks,
Josh
