Running cue stack without sending scenes into offline mode

First of all, again, thank you for the wonderful software that lets many people get to grips with DMX and produce some great shows.
Here's what I use freestyler for. Running a show by using the next scene button as a GO button, whist using the cue list as a set of chases. In the version I use, one of the first ones, freestyler allows you to access both in tandem, but subsequent releases put the scene editor into offline mode, the reasons which, after browsing the forum are apparent.
My question is, in the latest releases, is there a way to continue to make this "bug" happen so that I can access the new feature and also the ipad app.
