A hopefully supported midi idea

Post by Spirit »

hi everyone I created a Midi controller.
and hopefully this will be supported by freestyler. (the midi part already works only I hope that the devolper will add features for the LCD screen)
I made a Basic test version. you can add as many as you like, or how much midi can handle..2048 events..
its all based on a Project from the interweb "MIDIBOX" with this box you can create your own midi controller.
and the devolper made a New one and its called MB_NG and it made for dummy's as i'm one of them.
he made a Programming language that's realy easy!!! (a little programming experience would be nice)

but I made a midi controller with a LCD screen 4x40 characters with a interface made for freestyler.
its still in devolpent but here are the first impression.

and to give a idea what you can do with this project.
you can add:
- 128 fader / 32 motor faders
- 2048 buttons and leds
- 128 encoders + led rings (16leds each ledring)
- 64 lcd screens (64 E lines) (this depants on the type of LCD you use)
the lcd I use 4x40 uses 2 E lines so I can add 32 4x40 lcd screens. ;)

let me now what you think about it.
and maby features you like to see on it, as I will document everything you can do and HOW to do it.

Looking good spirit. I wish I could build something like that for myself, but I struggle when it comes to the maths side of electronics :( I still don't know how I got through my college course if I'm honest.

hi nathanrs93

i have never done electronics on college.
if you know how a solderiron works and how to read a electronic diagram.
you can build this..

all the hard maths/programming are allready done by a realy nice german guy..
how made a Modulair/open source system..

here you can find all the info
http://www.ucapps.de/

as i made a newest LPC17 based core..
with:
6 Digital OUT (DOUT) shift registers, for the leds
9 Digital IN (DIN) Shift register, 6 for buttons and 3 for Encoders.
and 1 MF_NG module for 5 Moter faders..

and the german guy made a realy nice Syntax to program you controll in the way you like to have it..

on the Image you see what everything is..
Red = main Chip LPC1700 serie
Orange = For LCD
Green = DOUT
Yellow = DIN
Light Blue = Motor fader module
Purple = Power supply 12V to 5V 500mA for main board / 5V to 3.3V for LPC and SD card / 12V to 5V 2A for motorfaders..

and here you can get Profasional made PCB with all the parts..

Oh well in that case then I might just have to have a go at building one myself lol :) It would be a nice little thing to do I suppose and help me out at lighting shows.

Oh Spirit you should not have told that.

I was just impressed by the work you have done as this is not your normal work field. :D

I like the idea of a display ovre the faders so you actually can read what they are controlling.

yes indeed that been the hole idea. to create my own interface.

also here a new video.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uzkjx5hz8i36wh2/VIDEO0068.mp4

i made a Frontpanel (just from paper and Cardboard to see if all the holes will be correct before i get a very pricey metal/platic one..)
